Hi all,

I've been having a problem lately when trying to mix some of my more recent projects. I must say that these are the first that I'm mixing on my new system (specs below). I'm using two studiomix consoles into sfp via luna/pulsar IO. I use the devices created by digilogue to confert the studiomix signals to midi cc's. I routed them to cubase and then back to the sfp mixer to be able to record all automation in midi tracks. When I start mixing everything goes ok for the first two-three minutes and then suddenly the PC freezes. I doesn't respond to anything anymore, even Ctrl-ALt-Del doesn't do a thing.

Does any of you had a similar experience or/and have a solution?

Greetz

P.S.
Specs:
p4 3.0 800fsb
Asus p4p800 deluxe
2*512MB Kingston Hyperx 3500 at 2/2/2/5
2*Seagate HD Baracuda V
XP Pro SP1
I only have a PulsarI and a LunaII as PCI cards.

hi Valium,

it could be a midi issue with your 2 controllers flooding the interface, you've probably read about CW midi probs already.
But your setup is pretty 'hot stuff' in the true sense of the word.
It could be a heat issue as well. I've tested a Barracuda V laying on the table with free airflow around. Within a regular drive bay a couple of them produces a lot of (additional) heat filling your case.

good luck, tom

thx for the reply but I can tell you that it definately is not heatrelated, I have a couple of case fans running and the PC is in a cool room (18C) cpu never gets hotter than 48 C and mobo temp doesn't get hotter 30C after using the setup for a while the HD don't feel that warm to the touch. So my guess is I'm actually flooding the CW cards. Any solution? workaround?

well, then it's the infamous external midibox with router software (midiox).
Perhaps someone can lend one to you for a test ?

cheers, Tom
