Hope you like it...

Wow... your tunes definitely have a mystical feel to it.. Your girlfriend's voice is very, VERY nice. Many of your tunes are very good demo material. You guys planning on going pro?
Anyway, you might want to consider just a little more variety. (tho I really do think this style is great) Just a thought. So don't let it change your style in any way.

well, I was speaking in terms of melody structure. It can be taken as a quickly difinable "catch", which it very good if you're going to sell the songs.
I say this because all your melodies seem to follow some specific order, using very similar scales. (almost turkish at times) It has a very strong character, which can be good, but also can be quickly worn out because it has such a strong character. Maybe that's a bit clearer.
But judging from your technique (you have very good ears and a sense of balance), putting a twist into the melody structure in your future tunes would probably be a piece of cake. So I guess you shouldn't be too worried. The variety in terms of arrangement and sonic textures is superb!
Anyway, be very confident if you're going to sell your material. It's very good!

Yeah, great, beautifull 'orchestration', good ridms with nice sounds, and good mixing.
Special anyway, and that's the half of the deal.
There's one thing I must say.
It is as if the first part of your girlfriend's singing has nothing to do with any harmonics, maybe caused by the lack of some harmonics in the beginning.
After that everything wents fine, so it yet should be good.
The lack of some harmonic contact combined with the non typical melody of the voice put me to the wrong direction.
In pure emotional terms I thought, oh I don't hope it's sutch an oversensible and in self pity swilling song.
And it wasn't.
May be it's an idea to start the song with the full 'refrain', that way pulling the listener brusk to the song, and AFTER that getting intimate with him.
The adventage is you first give the listener the right harmonic content, which isn't there after that for awhile.
Violin works fine also!
I hope your other songs have the same style, whatever the BPM.
Uhh, your girlfriend, she really didn't use an Antares vox tuner?

Hi all,
I writing this because this song (and two others) has been signed to a label (Ministry of Sound, a body of mine told me they were ok) for an ambient compilation.
Well, my main concern is that they accept the song as it is. Maybe it's me, but the song is like 5 years old, and I think I've developed much since then. Today I'ld have fx used more natural sounding stringsounds, a defferend structure, and not least, make it sound better (EQ'ing and mastering).
How does it sound on your speakers, and what do you think about the arrangement.

Wow ! Thalamus ! Ministry of Sound put out some of the biggest (i.e. biggest selling) compilations in the UK. Very BIG name . . . congratulations.
I like the song too, BTW ! The EQing and Mastering sound great on my system. Really warm, thick, and gloopy bass sounds, and I think the strings work perfectly for this sort of song - they didn't sound overly done, and I don't think purely 'natural' sounds would have worked best.
My advice: just let them get on with it !

Thalamus....
This song is incredible. Your arrangement and her voice are superb. Best of luck to you.....I love this tune!
If I had to offer any opinion on the mix I would say there is a lot of bass in places that sounds very stereo (or chorused) It's a great sound but it is very wide and can take up a lot of that LF spectrum.
Also...the vocal recording is great. There are a few places that could do with some automated EQ as she boarders on sibilance...but not a biggie.
These are REALLY nit picky things. The piece sounds great as is...I am just offering one set of ears and an opinion. Again, best of luck and congratulations!

Kamurah: glad you liked the song. It's actually very old (5 years) and at that time i didn't have much equipment. The vocal mic is shure sm-58, and almost all sound come from a Roland jv-1080 and pulsar, except drums. Some pulsar sounds were added later, though. But the vocal take was so good, that it survived that long. She can't get in the same mood and sing it again, we have tried.
The sibilance in the refrain, which I also think some times is too much, is coursed by a vocoder dub of the melodyline (it the same as which fades out in the outro). Is very deficult to EQ it in the top, without getting it dull. Tried with spl deesser, waves r-deesser, and EQ. I think maybe a more skilled technician could do something more... And yeah the bass is wide and full throttle, hmm well i just LOOOOVE bass and are allways overdoing it, becouse I wanna feel it in my chest when playing it loud.
Niel B: Thank you for you kindly comment, it's making me very flattered.
