What sort of dance ?

I like the vibe - sort of CARRIBEAN styleyyyyyy. Reminds me a little of Manu Dibango, don't know if you know him. Africany, yet modern influence . . . definitely heard the whole caribean thing but also heavily influenced by first jazz, then rock, then house and dance in general.

Tell me more about the project...

g'day, mr swim, how've you been?

Yeah it is a bit Manu Dibango i spose, used to listen to a bit of him in the 80's.

My favourites back then were people like Thomas Mapfumo or Eddie Palmieri, so some of that has got caught up in my system somewhere.

This is a part of a commission for an aboriginal dance piece that will go on soon here in Perth. It's about 45 minutes long, involves a group of young modern/aboriginal dancers, some more "traditional" groups from the bush, and city communities and kids.

there are 5 or so peces i've done, this is a happy bit for near the end

it is based on story about mamung, the whale
