PowerSearch3 concludes the PowerSearch-triology - A project that started about a year ago.

This one is made from the same setup as PowerSearch1 (maybe PowerSearch2...?), but it's a completely new song. As in PS1 all sounds originate from a sound emitted from my SoundBlaster Live card - The sound can best be described as the sound buzzing from a razor or the humming from an amplifier. All samples (7 or 8 samples) are played and manipulated into the sounds you hear, using Reason, ReasonFX and automation of the ReasonFX.
This one has been extremely difficult to mix/master, because the bass is very low frequency - I can't hear it on my monitors (Yamaha NS-10M), but it sounds great in my headphones! I have tried to find a compromise between the two, but the levels of the different sounds has been difficult to set for various reasons - I think the most difficult issue about this mix, is that every sound originate from a 50 Hz-something signal of noise. This gives a lot of frequency-trouble while mixing.
But I'm satisfied with this mix, and I hope that some of you, would check this version on your systems and give some feedback, especially if there are any frequencies "sticking out" of the mix.

For some weird reason I wasn't allowed to upload the MP3 here on PlanetZ. But just click on "file" as you are used to, or follow the link, and you will find the track.....

Enjoy ........

marvelous track, again, thomas! great sounds and sequencing.

just a few remarks, as you asked for them:
the high pad sound, coming in at 0:37 was a bit too loud, maybe. the bass was audible through my stereo speakers, but sounded much nicer/rounder through headphones...

a nice trilogy it is.

Hi Borg

Thanks a lot for your kind review and feedback. That was exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for - Thanks.

I wasn't aware of the 8 MB upload limit, I'll see if I can find a more effective compressionalgorythm, the one I used here was called something like "Lame MP3-encoder" or something, maybe I should have listened to my instincts and avoided it

Cheers!

I been listening to this and some of your other stuff at your webplace, so creeping minimalistic, wish I could be so naked. You inspire me.

I find the bass is mixed at a nice volume according to the textures, and not at all difficult to hear (I'm also on NS10). Do you have phase problems perhaps?

It kinda remind me of some CD I heard a while ago, postulation to be the sound of the universe, just pitched up.

Liked it alot. Keep the flow, man...

This is definitely picture/image music. Something you would either expect to be accompanied by images or just lay in a darkened room and create your own.
VERY interesting sounds you've used.
I'll have to admit to what I'm using for monitors
<chuckle> - but the bottom end sounded fine on my little Cambridge system.
I'm glad I took the time to download. Very inspirtational - especially those rhymic clicking sounds - unusual and add so much to the space.

Interresting indeed, Buildup.

I agree that the first pad comes in a bit harsh, I would let it sneak up in the mix more. The one thing i dislike is the flanger/phaser effect. Why, because it is to obvious in this abstract picture and thereby distracts me from the other sounds in the scape. ( And it sound like a reason fx, but that is less importent )

I really like that the clicks sometimes are a rithmic and sometime just abstact ticks. This contrast is nice..

O, and when the phasing sound ends ( at the end of the song )it could also be less harsh an ending...

Keep it up

I like this track a lot - well most of it to be honest.
Wonderful textures and atmospheres. I want to listen to this a lot more because I can see so many images.
The sub-bass sounds perfect through my headphones.
Thanks for this track Petal.

I am overwhelmed! Thanks a lot to all of you!

Thalamus, the file you have been listening too and been directed to, has been updated since I first posted this track, and the bass should fit better now, and I can also hear the bass on my monitors now, so I guess (hope) I don't have a phaseproblem - I'll better check to be sure.

djody, I'll better check that first pad again..... About the phaser effect - hmm - I have never listened to it from that point of view. I'll have to look into that too. (All though I think it stays  )

About the clicks, I have had a lot of positive feedback on those sounds/clicks from other people too, who have listened to these PowerSearch tracks, so I guess I made a lucky click there....

There's also a PowerSearch1 and a PowerSearch2 here on the site, but they are both older versions. If you follow the link above, you'll be directed to my homepage, where you'll always find the latest releases of my tracks.

Cheers - And thanks a lot for the positive feedback!
