XTC important question (by Yuyo)

no. these are two completely different things.
you can´t run vsti´s on pulsar.
but with xtc you can use the pulsar pluggos like the vsti´s, directly from logic (or cubase). don´t need to use the big mixer and the pulsar routing anymore, that saves dsp power.

That's right. Instead of using native VST effect plugins you can now easily use Pulsar effects which means your CPU will be able to handle more native VST plugins such as VST Instruments. Thumbs up to CreamWare if the new XTC interface works well with Cubase VST.

Subject: VST vs XTC
Hi, i have a question about the XTC platform, i use a pulsar 1 with cubase on a pentium II 300 with 128 MB RAM, when i play a lot of audiotracks together (15 Mono) I'm hearing my music crackle and stutter, and when i open the VST-usage-monitor, i see that my Hard-disk is alright but my processor gets stuck. Will the XTC-OS solve this problem or is it a memory related problem ???
Thanx

Subject: Re: VST vs XTC
well... yes. it might be also a memory problem, 128mb is some small... ram is very very cheap in the moment, u should buy another dimm...
but with yer p2 300 all should be fine, if not adding any realtime-vst-fx to the tracks. only if you do that, xtc can help you more than pulsar already does now.
ok, it´s not top-of-the-cream, but my system also still works fine here with a p2 400. no probs ever with audio.
but it´s right, the number of back-played tracks isn´t just limited by the hd-transfer, but also by processor speed.
but i guess that´s not so important since p2 & p3...

Subject: E-MAIL FROM CREAMWARE ITSELF
Dear CreamWare user!
The world's largest music fair, the Musikmesse Frankfurt, took place
this year from the 7th through the 11th of March. This e-mail is a
CreamWare news update for those of you who couldn't visit us at the
show. You'll find more details on our website - including a video
showing some of the action at the CreamWare booth!
Items:
- Pulsar XTC - The ultimate upgrade for your audio sequencer
- Volkszämpler - The VST sampler for all
- Luna II - The new reference for audio I/O cards
- Pulsar II registration bonus - secure your Modular V2 soon!
Pulsar XTC - The ultimate upgrade for your audio sequencer
Pulsar XTC integrates the power of six SHARC DSPs and an enormous
software package of effects and virtual instruments directly into
any VST-compatible recording system. This perfect integration of
concentrated DSP power into the native-computing environment
unburdens the host CPU and transforms your audio computer into a
highly professional music production system.
Unlike the Pulsar II, the XTC comes without a routing window -
the recording software itself now manages all the instruments and
effects. Although Pulsar XTC does not provide audio I/Os and some
other features impossible to implement in a native environment
(such as real-time mixing with external effects and latency-free
signal routing) it can be upgraded to a full Pulsar II at any time.
Pulsar XTC is scheduled for release in April.
By the way: existing Pulsar users can look forward to this summer's
release of software version 3.0! This release will come with many
new features, including the new MasterVerb and XTC functionality.
Another milestone in the evolution of the Pulsar system. And, as
usual, free for existing users!
Volkszämpler - the VST sampler for all
CreamWare is back in the world of purely native software with one of
the most exciting VST instruments of all - the Volkszämpler! Some
highlights:
- Sampling with up to 32 bits and 96 kHz
- Compatible with Akai S1000 and S3000, Soundfont 2, WAV and AIFF
formats
- Sample-accurate timing with audio sequencer playback
- Extensive integrated editing capabilities
- Modulation matrix and resonance filter
And all this packaged in a beautifully designed, easy-to-use,
intuitive user interface!
The Volkszämpler's only limitations, as compared our DSP-based
samplers (PowerSampler, STS-3000/4000/5000), are the inherent ones
exhibited by any device which is implemented as a native,
CPU-intensive application.
Visitors to our booth at the Musikmesse had the opportunity to
avail themselves of a free but fully functional copy of the strictly
limited Volkszämpler promotional copy. If you couldn't make the fair,
with a little bit of luck you still have an opportunity to acquire
a free copy when Volkszämpler becomes available in April. Where?
Only at your CreamWare dealer.
Fully registered versions of the sampler will be available starting
in May, 2001 at a price to be announced.
Luna II - The new reference for audio I/O cards
Luna II puts Pulsar/SCOPE technology within the range of the home
studio. A complete set of ultra-low-latency drivers, uncompromising
sound quality, and all the important advantages offered by a DSP
architecture make Luna II the ideal audio card for any native audio
software. And at a sensational price! With Luna II you also get
on-board mixing, surround sound, and effects, as well as
compatibility with the Pulsar/SCOPE plug-in library.
Of particular interest to tripleDAT users: Luna II provides a
16-channel tripleDAT driver which permits the DSP card I/Os to be
used with the HDR software. In summer, a new tripleDAT software
version will become available which will work with one of our
DSP cards instead of the tripleBoard. Please stay tuned -
more detailed info about this is coming soon. Of course, Luna II
is also well suited to perform as a DSP or I/O extension for Pulsar
systems.
Pulsar II registration bonus - secure your Modular V2 soon!
Since the introduction of Pulsar II, all new users of this system
had the chance to receive the Modular Synth V2 as a bonus for
registering at www.creamware.com - completely free of charge.
However, this limited offer ends March 26, at which time the
Poison FM Synthesizer will be offered as a registration bonus.
Note, too, that the price of the Modular V2 in the Online Shop will
be increased to 198 Euro.
So if you have not yet registered your Pulsar II, a complete modular
system with more than 80 pre-patched synthesizers and hundreds of
sounds awaits you! But don't delay...
We hope your musical endeavors are both fun and successful!
