Hi,

first of all, short introduction:
My name's Erik, i live in the Netherlands and im part of a producers duo. We produce house tracks for vinyl releases.

I recently bought a Creamware Pulsar 2 card and got some questions, hoping someone can give me some answers

This is my current setup:
-PIV 2.5ghz / 1024mb / 120gb / matrox g550 / cubase sx / soundforge6 / various vsti's (kontakt / fm7 etc..) / various hardware (yamaha 01v / emu e5000..).

I use a lot of vsti's and control these instruments with my Evolution UC16 midi controller.

1st question:
Can i use my Evolution midi-controller to send midi messages to my Creamware synths ? so i can record the filters (for example) in Cubase SX ? (like i do with "normal" vsti's)
Were can i find the MidiCC schedules for the creamware instruments ?

2nd question:
Wich mode is better to use for me, SFP or XTC mode ? i want to use all my hardware, vsti's and the creamware synths and effects.

3rd question:
Wich module do i have to load to use the SFP inside Cubase SX ?

4th question:
In XTC mode it seems like the creamware instruments produce more latency than the "normal" vst instruments in Cubase SX when i play with my masterkeyboard. Is this normal or can i fix this problem ?

5th (and last) question:
Windows XP Sp1 wont recognise the card, if i look at "sound and multimedia" is say's "no audio card present", so i can not hear any windows bleeps and i can not use Soundforge 6 !! Do i have to install the driver or is there a fix/tip for this problem ? When i start Cubase SX i do hear sounds (from vsti's or creamware plugs)

Hope you guys can help me with this, i would really apreciate it.

With regards,

Erik

thanx in advance !

welcome!

load the pulsar MIDI in module and connect it to a pulsar synth. you controller should eneter in the pulsar hardware midi in. then right click on a pulsar synth knob and move a knob of your controller. you should view the CC n° in the display and then click OK (or so) to make the assignement. now you should control the virtual know with the "real" knob...
2nd question:

don't know, becaue i have cakewalk, and i caoont use XTC!
3rd question:

ASIO source and ASIO dest (there are different type of them, asio2, 24 bit...) right click on the module to change the number of asio channel.
THEN open cubase and setup you asio config.
4th question:

try to go to the configuration setup and set a lower latency. if you have a good PC you should go on 7ms or lower @44.1KHz

Welcome aboard!

To your no5 question : For XP to have a card visible in the Multimedia panel, you have to load wav src & wav dest modules...

Using Cubase, you could use Asio2 32bits-64 src + asio2- 64 dest modules

I would recommend using SFP mode you you want all the flexibility to integrate all your hardware stuff in sfp+cubase...

XTC is great for mixing, but not really top notch when using instruments etc...

And the latency you feel using XTC is due to the fact that XTC mode double the latency that you see in the ULLI setting. This is because the audio stream goes from cubase to sfp then back (for ex.: 7ms ULLI = 7ms + 7ms = 14ms total latency) Which is why you better stay in sfp, that way your hardware will be virtually latency free (not even the ulli), VSTi will have latency = to ULLI.
