im hoping that it wont come to a reinstallation but i fear it may
the wierdest things are that the analog and asio work fine (i can hear my mic and my projects in cubase) so its not a physical problem with the card.i thought for a moment that maybe it was the new xvid codecs i installed that day so i uninstalled them...nothing.
i talked to my technician at the store and hes baffeled as me...i feel like crying

Had a problem, similar to this, with 'Wave Dest' the other week after installing my P4PE even though it was fine with my previous motherboard (ABIT BE6)
After re-installing and everything, I finally found that it was down to the 'inthwblk' variable in the cset.ini file.
(SFP installs with it set to 128 and I had to change it to 256.
Might be worth a check/fiddle?
P.S. Does anybody know what this variable does? Spirit? Anyone? I'm just curious.

1. You didn't say if you reloaded the mixer???? It's important to us to eliminate this hypotetic problem
2. Uninstalling the divix drivers could cause some files (related to the drivers) remained in your PC.
3. We understand you are in panic that the problem could affect your forthcoming project. You told us you have the problem but you deny to do our suggestions... That way we can't help you

A couple more things:
XP: In settings > control panel > sounds and audio devices > audio (tab), do you have the default sound playback device as Creamware Play/Rec 1 ?
In 98 it's start > settings > control panel > multimedia > audio
Also for reinstall I don't mean to reformat and reload windows, just reload SFP.
Alternatively reload media player etc.
Also try adding a second set of wave devices in your project. Maybe something has teken the first set - hard to tell since we know so little about your setup.
Some more details would help.
Simple things and careful checking usually solves 95% of problems.
