I'm trying to install a used Pulsar 2 I recently bought. I know about the ASPI player problem and have installed it. I try to update the driver for the board and XP warns me that the driver is not digitally signed. I proceed anyhow. The computer restarts and windows gives me a prompt that says "The system has recovered from a serious error." I try reloading the driver and the same thing happens.
Unfortunately this is my first post on this board. I was hoping my first post might be more joyous. Help a noob if you can. Thanks.

hmmm... i remember the exact same issue when i upgraded to WinXP. unfortunately i don't remember e x a c t l y how i solved it but i do know that the only thing i've ever done to solve driver, or any SFP, problems is to uninstall SFP, also uninstall your pulsar board from device manager, restart and manually point the installation dialogs to the win2k driver folder in SFP.
point it to the SFP 3.1a or b folder. THEN upgrade to 3.1c

Cool thanks. I will try uninstalling and then reinstalling to see if that helps.
Unfortunately I am not very well versed in this stuff so forgive me if I don't have all the information. The processor is a Pentium 3 500mhz, I'm not sure what the motherboard is but I got the computer from Micron. I had a friend helping me with the installation and we put the Pulsar 2 in the first PCI slot. We initially put the Pulsar into the second PCI slot but it wouldn't go in because the metal part on the end was interfering with a capacitor on the board! My friend did something with the IRQs when we swapped slots between an ethernet card and the Pulsar because it wasn't being recognized. We restarted and then the card was showing up and we got to the screen prompting "Which components do you want to install." I told him I could take it from there and I packed up my computer and took it to my house, but when I started up the computer later, the card wasn't being recognized.
