dear all,
when i am using a STS program (or even a soundfont) it seems to be automatically routed to BOTH main outputs (L+R), even if the used samples are mono samples. i can use the pan controller to move the sound in the stereo panorama.
this does not seem to work anymore when i use the additional outputs of the STS 3000/4000/5000. if i set the IOut parameter to 1 the mono samples appear only on the additioal output 1.
is there any trick ot workaround to use also mono samples on 2 external outputs with the pan controller working?
thanks a lot in advance,
hardsequencer
HELP: problem using mono samples on the IOut Outputs....

hi, this was something i was thinking of as an alternative. but in my understanding with the panpoz in the mixer also the inserted effects are panned, not only the original signal. but maybe i am wrong with this......On 2003-01-07 18:15, TonyR wrote:
Why don't you just use the panpot in the audio mixer?

Well I've never seen a flow diagram of the SFP mixers but if they work 'normally' then here's what I imagine happens (please correct me if I'm wrong): when you insert an effect it is before the panpot and before the level fader too, so if you wanted to use a compressor for instance you can set it up, leave it, and adjust the level with the fader and pan it. An insert effect effectively (sic) becomes part of that signal. So for instance you wouldn't want to pan the uncompressed vocal left and the compressed vocal right, would you?
Maybe you're thinking of aux effects which behave completely differently. The SFP auxes are mono anyway (much debated here and CW forum) even when used on a stereo channel, so panning the main signal is not going to effect, say, the reverb on the aux channel as the aux outputs to the reverb are resolutely mono and I think all the CW reverbs aren't true stereo anyway. Maybe if you tell us all what you're trying to achieve soundwise we might be able to suggest routing options/workarounds for you.
