The owner of the topic can re-upload the file, or post a link to an off-site file.

Genre: Ambient
copyright © Etienne Bovo2002
_____________________________________

Ok, this is my entry, every sound was made with a single mod II module configuration, on my Luna card (except the voice). This config is so small that I can reach 5 voices of polyphony, which I never did before with any other patch.

Since this is my first experience at creating a synth with the mod II, I screwed a few things. I thought that I could rewire a patch and save it as a preset, but I lost everything I made in this way. So, I used only one module config but I don't exactly know which and how many wirings I made to create these sounds.

So here it is! Hope you enjoy!

Space age has arrived!

Nice feel, pretty smooth. Synths sound is crystal clear, i like that, i hope i can download your patchs laterz, at least what you have been able to salvage, they sound very good.

At around 4.00min, when you start your tibetan singing, your song send a chilling vibe directly down my spine, and the build-up is squeezing my guts, i can feel it going directly thru my body... Impressive result i must say.

My, my! It squeezes your guts! That's a bit unexpected, but I guess it resonates with your atoms...

At the beginning the deep sound reminds me a Tibetan monk singing a mantram, very pleasantly... Then at about 110 it becomes so interesting, so full of harmonics and it tells me you are getting closer to something which is no evident so far. At about 2:07 there is an incredible atmosphere, (particularly if I think you’re doing it with only one patch). There you are getting ready your luggage or something like that, you are going away from were you are… sort of getting ready for travelling.

At 3:30 there is something important happening. I feel there is sort of a revelation coming up and the zenith of the song takes place, you finally travel to somewhere and you are in your way. At about 6, when things start calming down, I feel what you have to say has been said and you have arrived to the place you wanted to go, then feeling in peace with yourself, you keep walking in silence to a lonely place, which only you know where it is.

I’m probably using too much my imagination here, but couldn’t help to feel it matching one thing with the other. I really like this one, it’s inspiring and technically the sounds used are very nice too. Perhaps I would like the voice slightly more up front and with quite a lot of reverb. Very nice Eliam, indeed.

Thanks, Nestor, for your encouraging words. I see this piece as some kind of pilgrimage too, with different episodes. I think it as an inner voyage leading one into the interior depths to find what was forgotten long ago.
I think your description is really sensitive and accurate!

One of the best things I've heard at the Z for a while ! Really great stuff and easily the equal (and better) of vaguely similar stuff I have on CD.

It's really soundtrack material. I think it has a Native American feel rather than Eastern. I can imagine some desert sunset with a warrior staring over the plains contemplating some terrible trial to come, or perhaps a calamity that's recently happened and calling on the strength of his ancestors.

I suppose the fact that this piece can summon such different and vivid images is a great tribute to its emotion.

BUT !!!!!!!!!

Where's the patch ? For a low-DSP first effort it sounds stunning.

the speed at which the whole thing progresses is really nice. very organic. I think it really surpasses anything really "modular" or whatever, but enters into a more intimate field. the singing's superb too!

Excellent Eliam.
There are some really superb sounds in this track, especially around the 3 Min mark with deep spacey pulses blending with icier sounds.
And then the vocals come in - it reminded me from then on of "Shine on you Crazy Tibetan" and it works perfectly.
Well done

Thank you all for your optimism! In fact I really didn't know what to think about this piece because I'm not used to compose in such manner; it is entirely new to me. It seems to stir the imagination around!

An invocation to the ancestor's spirit to gather the cosmic strength to be victorious in our earthly trials? Absolutely! That's why I called it "from long ago" in reference to the deep memories about all our past embodiments and in relation to our present situation. This era is really the culmination of the ages where we must gather all our power to be victorious!

Be at peace!

Oh! About the patch, I upload it now, but sinse I lost everything but the last wiring, it's the only thing you'll have. I'll try to remember some other wirings and upload them at that time!

Bye!

Man, this truly is stunning work. I'm not here to judge what u did with which atoms, as i am not a MOD user myself. But the production/music stuff here is brilliant! i've never been a "world music" fan myself (allthough, as i am 26 years old, i must say that i liked the first enigma album:), but the whole feel of this track is superb. I especially like the bit from approx 6->out (dont say u didnt get inspiration from pink floyd , but the panning work especially impressed me on the pre-6 minutes... IMPRESSIVE!!! u got my vote:) keep up the good werk !!!!!!!

PS.

U have any other stuff i can lisen to??

See ya.

Thanks, Piddy! Your comments are very encouraging for me, and I am truly humbly grateful before all this positive feed-back!

You say that you like the panning of the whole tune? Or did you mean at the end only (or especially)?

I hadn't Pink Floyd in my mind, but I guess there can be some ressemblances... I posted 2 other pieces already. One is called "Different Faces" and the other "Supremacy". I am more of a songwriter than a sound sculptor, but I really like doing this! I composed maybe a hundred songs, thousands of texts and many instrumental works, but it's only the beginning!

BTW, Piddy, we're almost the same age, I'm 27. What are u up to? Where do you live?

Ciao!

Hi there

i liked the panning of the whole tune, but especially the first bit before the vocals kick in... dont misunderstand, its great during the whole track

By the way, im a 26 year old student in Norway, doing a master in mechanical engineering.

And i sure want to get into this Modular thingy, but as a student, i never could afford the Modular. But just now (1 min ago) i filled the visa form an im about to dl it

Lokking forward to entering a new dimension, see u later

so what more is there to say? nice track of course, excellent!

too bad the synth joining in at 3:54 took me away from the state i was in just before (i was deep into it, but this sound was, how should i say, too 'real'. makes sense? just a personal thought, otherwise great track)

What can I reply to that...? It just warms my Heart because I put my Heart in what I do and if it can inspire others to reach out, well, I feel more fulfilled and grateful!

I love you all,
be at peace.
