Hi all,
I just had a weird loss of my ADAT signal through my pulsar 1. Basically, I am running a Roland VM3100 pro as Master and the pulsar used to detect 44.1khz sampling rate when set as slave. Very occasionally something would fritz out, but if I turned off the mixer and then powered it back up, the pulsar would re-detect the signal and I would again have sound.
I recently lost the ADAT signal, but re-powering everything did not fix the problem. When I used to click on slave under the sample rate tab in SFP, the little scope "thinking" icon would twirl and then find the slave sampling rate. Now when I click this button, I get no "thinking" and no ADAT signal.
I haven't tried plugging things through the other ADAT input yet. Any other thoughts on what might be wrong? If this is a software problem, could it just "pop-up" after the system had been running stable?
thanks,
Mythalethe
ADAT problems, pulsar 1
hi,
from what you write I'd suspect it's the Roland malfunctioning.
You may check several items: do the Adat out ports on both systems light ?
Check the Pulsar hardware by routing a mono testsignal through the Adat-ports:
out1->in1, out1->in2, out2->in2, out2->in1
If any one of the cases work you have at least one reliable cable, if none works see if another cable changes situation.
This should work on the Roland as well.
If both units work with itself, but not with each other
good luck, Tom

Sadly, the only configuration that works with my pulsar is Adat B out to ADAT A in. It works with both of my cables, so that is not the problem.
Is it in fact possible to run a loop from Adat B out to Adat B in? (I have never used the Adat B inputs or outputs, and am surprised that the the ADAT B in isn't working.)
thanks,
Mythalethe

I have actually been using the DIF-AT running into Pulsar ADAT for several years now. I am totally puzzled about why it suddenly stopped working. It died while I was playing with "noise" involving massive amounts of feedback. I didn't think it would be possible to "fry" a lightpipe, but maybe that's what happened...

Greetings all!
I was wrong to blame the Pulsar! A call to Roland tech support with complete re-setting of my mixer (which wiped all my carefully constructed scenes...) and I am once again riding the light with sine waves on the photon express!
thanks for the help!
(I still am wondering why I could never get the loops from ADAT A out to ADAT A in or from B out to B in working. Has anyone else ever tested this?)
thanks (and back to the music)

I receive on ch 1-7 of Adat A-IN from my external mixer and send a Pulsar Submixer out to channels 1,2 of Adat A-OUT back to the external mixer so I can use Fader #9 to adjust the Pulsar sumOn 2003-01-02 17:50, mythalethe wrote:

Definetely works : the small adat delay recently made a nice comb filter on a synth pad monitored (accidently) before and after the adat transfer

cheers, Tom
