With CW's strange policy, what will happen if my Pulsar card dies and I decide to buy a new one? Maybe I'm being theoretical here.. but let's say I want to upgrade to a Scope board or some other product 3 years from now and my old board dies or something. Will CW transfer all your devices to a new serial # for free? I mean.. even ProTools isn't as stupid as the Pulsar system. With ProTools you have 'authorization floppy disks' that transfers the key from floppy to HD, thus leaving no activation key on the floppy. Then you can copy the key back from HD to floppy if you like, then you loose the key to the product on your ProTools system of course. But this makes it unneccessary to buy products twice even if you decide to buy a whole new PT system.
I think they must let you move the plugins you have bought from one card to another one bought in your name. I really doubt if it would be legal to let you buy the same product twice (by European Union laws), at least it raises legal questions. Anyhow I would think that letting you buy more cards to use with your (old) software in the future should be the most sensible thing for CW to do!
This is an important question and it would be interesting to hear from someone at CW about their future policy in this matter!
