I really really like the opening to this - that squeeky thang is just too cool. The main tune is less my thing but, of course, ken, very well done.

How do you make the squeeky noise ???? I WANT it !

It's just a 2 synced pulses, with the main osc's pitch being modulated by the pitch env. I'm using inverted mode on the env though. The trick in having it sit in the tune is to use it at a very low volume. These little "creatures" can really stand out in the mix.

And the main part of the tune.. hehe. wasn't my style either..

Dunno know exactly why it turned out the way it did.. but it's cool. hehe.

I always wanted my compositions to sound that mellow (in opposition to sharp), especially drums. You know what I mean? i also like those staccato chords. If you don't mind I'd say it has the Holger Czukay sense of sound changing and Aphex Twin sense of rhythm and manipulation (with a mixture of Future Sound of london and Coil). Thank you. 10.

P.S. It could be a bit longer (or it's just not finished yet?)

dunno. didn't really focus on making it sound finished. I was more concentrating on getting it out fast enough so as to cause some more entries.

the beginning lets imagine a deep house entry, it's scary how good it sounds. And you seem to like doing disco shit... So why not turn this into it? oh well, maybe it's time for you to drop an ex and dance until dawn... just a suggestion. Truely in the beginning, one craves to dance while listening.

Fanstastic.

Yeah, this bass line reminds me of about 20 different songs from the 80's

But you totally get away with it, as the production and composition is so good.
The part at 1:17 is so well-crafted.

Also in the intro, there are these chords that trigger as if sampled and being played out of time (e.g. at :15 and :28). Nice trick.

This gets my vote for both songwriting and engineering/production.

What happened?

First my emotional impression: I was surprised like a child when listening the beginning, so crispy and syrupy tasting… I felt like a 10 years old boy, and I love it of course… Then couldn’t help starting dancing… “I never dance”, and felt so happy…

Technically, very interesting and ALIVE, really effervescent, sounding compacted. Would like very much a middle part, before coming back to the main melody, if you ever plan to finish it completely.

I really like this one, beautiful Ken, great job! Thanks for the contagious enthusiasm we can feel in this composition! THANKS. This will probably be the winner to me too… Lets see what’s happened to the others…

hi Ken, very strange but I missed this one, don't no why, must have overlooked it or have thought I did hear it already.
I'm glad I got it now, coz I think this is a goody

wauw the chopped synths are great, I like the way they sound, not really 'played' like a 'musicion' would have done but alike cutted from the air if you see what I mean, very surprising (John said it already).
It is as if you tricked with a 'ducking routing' , one sound cutting off the other...or did you have midiproblems

Would like to see this combined in a real streight dance ridm, I like the ridm and specially the sound of it, you could try to put a streight 909 kick under the whole thing to see what it does...

You know me, i'm not so into the chord thing presented by the bass synth, it prevents me from dreaming away, but the tiny sinth melodies (sweet and dreamy) I like alot.

Thank you all for the awesome compliments! The basic idea of the tune came from Finland project's M3 tune. M3 tune was different tracks chopped up and used out of sequence to build a chord.. whereas in this tune the entire chord was chopped up. didn't want to bug with "moving" parts this time.

I'm starting to really dig this chopping style. It may become my main style for some time to come. But I still need to polish it some more I think. I need to find out more ways to make the sound even more jittery, but still have them work with each other.

The chopping things up, and putting parts out of sequence, lets me compose without thinking too much. Actually the process makes things so chaotic that there is no way I can logically organize things. It brings out a part of me that simply enjoys the variety of textures. And playing it is more like just triggering.. and not really "playing". that's relaxing too.

The only party pooper is that it takes a lot of time to prepare for all the parts that I'd need. That part requires precise calculation and is a real headacher.

I love the chopping. Did you really get all the chord pads out of the Hummel Blue Synth? One of them I really like, not just your typically saw wave sound. You've encouraged me to wipe the dust of the old synths.

Yup, they're all from hummel bluesynth. I'll probably follow shortly with the tutorial on all the sounds. Not much to explain though... Will get to it after I get back to Japan.

i only wanted to say that i like your songs/sounds very much. I´m not able to be more precise cause my english isn´t good enough to do that. Another reason is that i don´t really know the differences between the different styles of today. Anyway compliments for your ideas!

Apologies for the late response but I've been on my "travels" recently, although I listened to this a while ago.
I like it - excellent and only on one synth.
I agree with the others - it should be extended and finished.
