Hi,

I'm putting together a new section on my site about all the MIII patches released so far.
I've uploaded a test page which shows what I intend to do for each patch.
You can get to the page by clicking on the link in the news entry for 19th Nov on the homepage.

The page shows a MIII patch (808 groover) without any cables, but if you hold the mouse over the image, the cabling is shown.

Is this useful, do you think?

Can people let me know if it doesn't work in their browsers? It should work in any browser, but if loads of people tell me it doesn't work for them, I won't bother continuing with this.

As ever, contributions are welcome - if you have a favourite patch, MIII or otherwise, why not write a short description for the site, or record a few samples for me to put up as examples of the patch. I can't possibly document all the patches on my own, but with a few contributions, we can make the site a great resource for all Pulsar modular users.

Shame. What OS & browser are you using?

I thought it would work in any java compliant browser, but it is a bit of code out of Front Page so maybe its some proprietary MS stuff that'll only wrk in IE.

I'll see if I can find a way of doing this that'll work in any browser.

Hi Ken, just install the latest Sun JVM... 1.4.x. This will install a JRE plugin for your Netscape. Afterward, all will work.

BTW Ben, you don't need an applet for doing exactly the same thing...

Just create an image tag like any other with the src attribute pointing to your first image, and add something like this as a tag attribute : onmouseover="this.src.value='my_second_img.jpg'"

and to go back to previous image add :
onmouseout="this.src='my_first_img.jpg'"

like this :

I'd much rather avoid using an applet if possible. Those images are big enough as it is without forcing people to dl an applet as well, and this should also avoid the problems that people are having with different browsers.

Everyone should now be able to load this page OK:

Should be fine as this is standard HTML.
You may need to refresh the page to get it to clear the previous version, I guess.

If I don't hear of any problems within a day or two, I'll start uploading more pages for the MIII patches.

As a Mac user I have to say it loads and behaves correctly on IE 5.x (the lates version on classic OS) but unfortunately doesn't on Netscape 4.79...

Does it work with the image above? Just wondering whether you're looking at an old version of the page?

I have no probs with the above picture and above 909 link using IE butwhile using N 4.x it's not visible - in addition the background paints itself (the violet one) like it was printed on a dot matrix printer - it takes abot 20s to paint (no matter it's g4/400 with 16MB Graphics nor G4/800 with 32MB graphics... But this occures sometimes with other sites, as well - only with Netscape...

Works OK here with Netscape 7 on PC, but I don't know what the latest version for the Mac is.

What I think I'll do is upload the pages with the rollover, but add a link to the picture so people who can't see the rollover will be able to access the picture another way. Should get the first pages up in a day or two...

Ben, as your page has always worked for me (on IE6), I haven't replied yet. I'd like to show another way of doing this: by using flash. But then your visitors need flash...
