nuendo.exe starts with a default
priority of "high".
this cannot be changed using the start command because the application sets the pri itself during startup.
on some systems the high pri will cause crackles when using GUI, especially with some VSTs.
the only possibilty is to set the pri during
runtime. (this will not affect the audio pri which can be configured in Nuendo)
I wrote 2 small utils and a batch file to automate the process, which can be downloaded here (mirror)
after unraring the files to the nuendo folder, nuendo.bat can be used to start nuendo with a priority of "normal". priority and delay can be customized by editing the batch file.
pri ids:
0 = idle
1 = below normal
2 = normal
3 = above normal
4 = high
5 = realtime

er, um... the URL didn't work for me....
yah it sounds like you have to wait for all threads to be spawned (run time)and then lowering the priority 'downs' the main thread's priority... the crackles for GUI under "high" is probably the result of the scheduler going nuts when its own threads (and many threads that are naturally part of the OS) do not have enough priority to run in the context of the up'ed priority of Neundo...

Set Cubase SX / NUENDO XP-prority at startup
I though the priority settings set in Cubase ASIO control panel were also the programs priority settings as seen in Task Manager. I don`t have Cubase here, so can`t check that now. Anyone else?

Don't know about pre-SX, but I checked on my mate's machine and the only place I see a setting for priority is under an 'Expert' tab in the "VST Multitrack" page, and it doesn't seem to have an effect on the priority. I did notice that the app started in normal priority and went to High once fully loaded though...
Setting the Priority in "Expert Settings" in SX now automatically sets how SX is running in the Task Manager Priority scheme.

THX MAN FOR THIS GREAT TOOL, exactly what i needed, i got the problem that Logic stops when i start to do something in my SFP Software... turning a knob or something.
When i start logic with priority "High" everything works absolutely fine, i tested it, i could not bring logic to stop, also when i turned via midi controller 2 knobs ... thats it.
