and this rocks... but anyway, I'm wondering if non Mod III owners can use modIII patches... like they did with mod II. If so, that'll be cool.

Another question... is there like some sort of standard as to which CCs I should assign to my knobs for the patch surface feature? Well, I'd skip the reserved ones for sure, but other than that, they're pretty free?

Huh!? Could people who did not own the Mod2 load Mod2 patches!? Cool, I never heard of that. Might be something from ModIII in it for me after all then

About CC#: http://www.borg.com/~jglatt/tech/midispec.htm has a list of standard assignments. Of course, as Modular is so flexible, you'll find yourself puzzling and trying to find an alternate. In the Pulsar Study forum, I wrote an article about which CC# not to use, cos they're reserved or may be reset on stop.

Enjoy your Modular, Ken!!

If you ever wished there was an EP sim for Pulsar, go check it out NOW! The sound is pretty phenomenal.

hi ken,
no, modular2 owners cannot use modIII, if you load a patch or a module that comes with the modIII package in a mod2 frame, it will ask for modIII serial number.
what is possible if you own modIII is to load the new modules in a previous mod2 patch, but this patch cannot be load without modIII key.

ciao.

So if my EP patch used mostly ModII compatible modules, I just have to replace the few incompatible ones then the patch will be loadable in ModII?

Or do I have to start from scratch in ModII?
(this compatibility issue really sucks)

hi all,

can someone tell me if they got a 1Kb file when downloading modular III upgrade from creamware's site ???
Considering that there are 70 new modules, this package seems a little light ???

Thanks a lot for your answers

I just got ModIII and I was wondering if I was being a prize pillock cos I only have a folder that says Modular2 modules. Where are the ModIII modules? Have they been snuck into the Mod2 folder by mistake/on purpose or should there be a separate ModIII folder?

There is a separate directory for mod3 modules, it is in the installation directory of sfp... Copy it just beside the mod2 directory...

Also, for the patches, you got to download them separately from the modular corner pages on creamware site... (17mb) of very good patches

My ModIII installation just put the new modules in the Modular2 Modules directories. The new files are dated 9/11/2002.

Hmm, more ModIII problems. I dunno if this is a Mac thing but when I load a ModIII patch a dialogue opens up asking for the path to the presets. I've put the ModIII presets in the usual Presets folder but it just doesn't see them unless I manually direct it. Anyone else had a similar problem or know what's causing it?
