XTC Delay
Hi at0mic,
do you use SX or VST? I encountered, that in SX there is no need to insert the XTC Delays anymore as SX compensates the latency somehow (in most cases). But when I play a Pulsar-Synth (e.g. Prisma ...) I have to insert the Stereo XTC Delay into the first insert slot of this channel. That is no problem, no distortion, just the same sound as without delay.
I found out, that some effects don't produce any latency (e.g. the compressors). So you don't have to insert the delays for compensation. Other effects do (e.g. the choruses). And this is really annoying because then you must insert the delay in any other slot. I tried to compensate the latency by making the channel in SX to play "earlier" (you can do that in SX), but this sounds not "correct". You can set the value to -33ms, -66ms ... but I didn't find a way to change it more exactly (e.g. -7ms). So in most cases I decided to use a different chorus without latency (Direct X or VST) - a quicker solution.
Also, I encountered that when I
am using e.g. the Hexa Chorus or PEQ4, I have a little distortion. It sounds as if you use a compressor the wrong way. This can be solved by reducing the "Wet"-Value of the chorus-effect. No solution for the EQ. I have no explanation for this phenomenon but would really like to hear about anybody's experiences with this.

Does not look wrong. As to the main modules it is similar to mine. One difference though: I feed the dpmc directly to either the analog dest or the spdif dest (not into zlink). I don't know, but this might be a problem ...

Would be nice to have a working XTC project (and installation of course;). Even better would be a little Cubase project to go with it. 2 audiotracks, 2 VSTi, 2 XTCi, and each channel once with XTC insert effect and once without -so a beginner like me can get his Latency Compensation right
Doesn't need to be a complete song, a 4 bars loop could do the trick. I would not ask complex composition, even if I heard one note playing correctly thru a XTC-inserted channel, I'd be a happy man! I hope this'll get others started too.

1. Your 'Merge' module is gone! Does the function still work for you? AFAIk, the only way to restore it is to open another XTCproject.pro which has it... or did it cause you problems?
2. The inserts still give the same crackles :/ IT does not make any difference... grrrrr... Thanks for your effort, but I think I'm gonna disturb CW about it.

re:1) You could use the merge function for downmixing. How did you plan on recording your XTCi now? Do you have external (ie. ADAT or so) recorders?

Well, what I do, is route the Cubase-Master-Channel to the SPDIF-Dest and record it directly to my DAT-Recorder.
Usually I do have about 8 mono- and 7-10 stereo-channels in cubase. The 8 of them are the single Drums-Sounds (Kick, Snare, Hihat, etc.). I use the VST-Drum-Sessions which are absolutely great, though recorded in 16bit only. Then I add about 3-4 Pulsar-Synths (3-4 voices) and/or FM7 (which is fantastic) plus 2-3 HALion-tracks. Quite an amount of tracks, eh?
As to the Pulsar-effects, I usually use two Masterverbs and some chorusses, flangers, etc. The compression of the single channels is done by Cubase-Dynamics or an Waves-Compressor. The whole mix is routed through GraphEQ, Optimaster and PsyQ. I do all that with an over all latency of 7ms (xtcproject). No XTC-Delays in the inserts, except for the Pulsar-Synths (they need the XTC-Delay, which I still don't understand ...)
All this runs on an Athlon 2Ghz and an Asus A7N266-C with 512MB. Believe it or not, I can do this without any crackling or drop-outs. It just plays live and so I don't need to bounce anything (which saves harddisk-space). Maybe I am just a lucky guy
