I think your XTCproject.pro is set up wrongly, like a normal project or so.

Here's a screenshot from my XTCproject.pro. My only problem is still how to mix DirectPLayMixerContainer and SX' main Mix out. (the 2 going into Z-Link Dest)

Another XTC hint: I removed every insert effect from the /VSTplugins/XTC folder, except the XTC Delays and Others Folders.

I use MultiFX anyways to host (SFP-type, non XTC) plugins. It makes for much faster Cubase loading, it doesn't have to check every XTCplugin dll.

I would love to see how other people set up their XTCprojects.

Hi Atomic, for mixing your asio out 1&2 + the directmixer out, you could use a micro mixer. It won't open as an XTC devices, but it's gonna mix correctly and load it when you'll open cubase. I did try it, and it work.

Cheers marcuspocus. I tried it, sometimes it worked, sometimes it refused to.

Where do you get your mixer? Does it need to be in any specific folder, or will the project remember I got it from the default mixers folder?

Default mixer folder... From c:/SFP/devices/mixer

But in the 'Search Options' panel of SFP, include the complete c:SFP directory, and select 'all files'

Hi atOmic,

correct me if I'm wrong, but to get any sound from the Direct Play Container, you will have to feed some sound into it, right? I feed my Container with the Pulsar Analog Source. This works. Try it.

Cheers,
Uwe

Marcuspocus, the Micromixer loads fine in XTC mode. Thanks!
DirectSound not possible yet, however. Dolphin, I'll give your suggestion a try.

[edit] Going to do another format, and reinstall everything fresh on my DAW partition. Everything was working quite well, now something's screwed up. Tired of T/S'ing, gonna do a fresh install now.

hi, i'm not currently using xtc mode as i use a lot of modular, but i'm very interested in this thread, looking forward to productions of pure audio stuff.
if you are able to show also images of your xtc projects, they can be very useful for me and ,i guess, for many others....

cheers to everybody there...and check algorythm's pulsarian photos thread in general pulsar discussion! (i'd like to know you all)

Some plugins do give problems on installation, like now my SB-404 refuses to load.

You can see in SX' boot pop-up which XTC device that causes the error. To avoid all problems with effects, I deleted every .dll of effects that can go inside the Multi-Fx. So I deleted all except Multi-FX and midi remote (haven't used those, but I leave them in). And the synths I left there as well, of course.

I also cannot monitor directly, I can only use 'black' button. 'Blue' does Direct Out only, while 'Green' sends to Monitor and Direct Out. Direct Out fails cos I can only use 'black'.

I found the solution for the Tempo problem. Just set it via VST Automation

VST Automation integrates so well, I'm quite excited about it. I still load the Pc1600x/MC-505 remote control presets in the XTC devices, monitor the midi track, enable write on the device, and all comes nicely on screen, every parameter can be automated.
I wonder if it enlightens MIDI. I think so, but have no 'evidence' yet. It's very smooth, and has a huge depth (+/- 16383 values instead of midi's 128 steps;)

If Cubase is compatible with Infinite controllers/ (those turn buttons w/o beginning or end, to avoid all knob jumps), then XTC is!

Another XTC trick:

Insert values ie. for BPM with the main keyboard numbers, instead of from the numpad. It works here.

As I mentioned it above, it can also be done from the VSti Automation track.

More on XTC here.
