after install Pulsar2 and its SFP 3.1, I can play a standard audio CD in my Cd-rom drive normally with windows media player but now, I can't here what media player is playing (it can be played but no sound)

So i just want to know how to check in the routing windows or do i have to do some settings at windows media player to get this CD playback work again.

thanks in advance

Use winamp and download the cd reader plugin for winamp at http://www.winamp.com

I THINK that you first need to check in settings>control panel>multimedia what drivers are being used. If they are NOT puslar ones you should be given the choice to send play and record to pulsar.

Then open up a new project and check that WAVE SOURCE software module is loaded and connected to the right and left channels of the mixer. Then make sure that the channel you have routed WAVE SOURCE to is being mixed. You should get sound now. If you don't, is the MASTER display showing any input (i.e. flashing green stuff ?) If YES and you are not getting sound, try re-booting but if this doesn't work, ask someone else ! If NO again, you'll have to ask someone else. My tech skills pale into comparison . . .

You don't need WinAmp for this, just go in mediaplayer options and enable 'digital read'

Add wav source in your background project if it's not already there, and there you go!

'Digital Audio' from cd is reading bits'n'bytes from Cd by your player, instead of a cdrom sending the audio analog out to an audio card, this uses a small cable between cdrom and audio card. Pulsar has no connection for analog audio from cd. It needs to pass cdrom->MediaPlayer->SFP->cards.
Standard I thought XP set cdroms to read digital audio, so you won't need the utility normally...

I've uploaded a utility to enable digital audio from cdrom:

It's also possible your CDROM doesn't support raw read, or digital read formats ... usually that happens only on older / generic CDROMs. ASUS/Liteon/Plextor/Teac and the likes should all do digital reading just fine...

If your driver has problems, get the cdfs I uploaded in the Tools/presets section. Backup your old cdfs file before you overwrite it. Then reboot once you've replaced it.

Okay a few more ideas ...

1. Be sure your CDROM is DMA-enabled ... (check the driver settings Winkey+Pause)
2. Is the Adaptec ASPI layer installed? http://www.adaptec.com
3. When it was playing before -- was it playing through your Pulsar or did you have a different soundcard/onboard sound with a cable?

ok...
i just tried what u said ...
-dma checked
-Aspi installed

and 3. answer is i can played it 4-5 times since i firstime used pulsar.

but now it still doesnt get any sound from audio CD but mp3 files can be played (it come to wave source1 <---not sure is it the same with audio CD here)

windowmedia player say

"We have determined that Windows Media Player cannot accurately read your CD drive digitally. Windows Media therefor switch to reading your cd drive in analog mode. Your CD's will play, but the following items will not work when playing CD's Visualization, Srs Wow effect, Graphic EQ."

i have 2 drives
master is Matshita DVD-rom SR-8584A
slave is ATAPI CD-R/RW 8x4x32

really need help
thanks for suggesttion

1. WinKey+Pause(System Properties)
2. Device Manager
3. Plus [+] by CDROM or DVD drive
4. Select the CDROM/DVD drive you're trying to read, Right Click, select Properties
5. Properties tab - Digital CD Playback
[x] Enable Digital CD Audio for this CD-ROM device

Hi,

if all else fails, connect a stereo minijack to rca left/right from the headphone out on your cd-rom to your physical mixer inputs.
works great for me.
