I've used this product on Mac & Win for a while, I've even subscribed. But they now force install a browser that will reset its settings to their search product(s), continuously try to install AVG through all products, and often leaves a single pixel version of it running in task manager for no reason I can discern.
Any thoughts on a replacement, or replacements? Secunia Advisor or whatever for scanning out of date installed programs is also put out to pasture...

I´m using CCleaner too and since decades and when it updated quite recently, I wasn´t forced to install their browser or other products at all.
Well, they asked whether I want to or not,- but it were my decision.
The version I see in task manager as also the service do nothing here when the program isn´t launched,- zero % CPU.
When the free version auto upgraded here, my preferences from older version kept being intact.
IMO, it´s still the best application for that purpose and I don´t know any freeware alternative.
