I'm comparing some effect chains by switching between them using controlroom.
As some effects change the gain, I cought myself prefering the louder effects.
So now I do manual normalisation before comparing.
Is there a way to have quick gain adjustment to a defined level, without changing the audio content like a compressor does ?
(Maybe similar to optimaster, who's wizard seems to work similar.)
quick amplitude normalisation ?

quick amplitude normalisation ?

Re: quick amplitude normalisation ?
Imho it‘s not possible to (auto) adjust gain based on peak values because it skips spectral content.
It‘s probably best to shift comparison of 2 (or more) lines of Scope effects to the end of chain and do it in CPU mode.
(afaik it‘s difficult/not possible in the DSP‘s tiny audio segments)
My personal tool of choice is SAW Studio‘s „Levelizer“, equivalent to FabFilter Pro-L2 and Anwida L1V.
Don‘t be irritated by the Limiter classification.
You don‘t have to drive anything hard in any of the three, but it‘s surprising how much „compression gain“ may be achieved without even increasing THD in the most minimal form. Lightyears ahead of regular compressors.
So basically your sound is preserved with only the level adjusted for equal perceived loudness.
I only use compression if I WANT it to color sound or for specific artifacts, but NEVER in gain context anymore.

Thanks for your insights . As I'm also in permanent danger of "over-effecting", I'll have a closer look at my current chain.
