Telewest Broadband (UK) warning

I don't think I have any sort of Blueyonder software running on my machine.

One word of warning, my colleague Jim, who's had similar problems, has installed a different network card, but has not been able to get it to connect to the Telewest network as yet. Some configuration problems I believe to do with MAC address of the network card. There is more information on the selfcare page of blueyonder.

Make sure you're confident of what you need to do before switching network cards.

Only problem being that I never even got to the stage of being issued with a username or password !

I'm going to have to rely on the techs . . . .

Your username and password should be on the letter you received telling you when your installation would be.

However, you might find it's easier to let them deal with it anyway. Looks like that's the option Jim's going for anyway and we're both developers!

Thought I'd dig this one up one last time for those still interested in soap operas. Yes sadly this one is coming to an end (I hope) and luckily not because a plane crashed into my flat.

I eventually brought a 3com NIC (3c905cx-tx), installed it in PCI slot 4 (between my soundcards), got hold of the latest drivers, got it all installed, rang telewest who set the MAC address and hey presto ! I now have broadband internet (after about 4 months which incidentally they are still trying to bill me for !)

Now, why did I want broadband again ? . . . .

Good to hear this is up and running now. After you've had it for a few weeks you'll remember why you wanted it in the first place!

Has it fixed all your stability problems?

Pretty sure that stability problems are fixed, but one is never quite sure . . . . certainly no weird surf-crashing of yet.

Promising - yes that 3com is a lovely little card.

Simply and clear...
INTERNET is not compatible with a DIGITAL AUDIO WORKSTATION.

You can make multiple boot installation of windows 2000, windows xp, and even windows 98.

If you want to be happy with your DAW, make a clear instalation of your Operating System and install only what you REALLY need for audio.

Thats the inly way...

Its very complicated, I know, and no one like to do that again and again...but beliebe me, thats the only safe way, and the time you "loose" reinstalling everything, is time that you win day by day with no problems...

This is where a little program like Symantec Ghost comes in very handy. I think there is also a free utility somewhere that will do the same thing?

Create a bootable c: image of a freshly configured PC on cdrom, and re-install becomes very painless!
