It’s 5 years old & all I’ve done is taken it back off a cassette tape into Cubase and exported to MP3 – no effects or any other tweaking, so it’s a bit “iffy”. It’s also my first attempt at exporting audio.

The track is “Blood Red Sky” about a volcanic eruption in Iceland in the 1800’s, which left a dust cloud over much of Europe - spooky!

Recorded in midi (Cubase 2.03 on a 386 PC) using Roland JV1080 for the mellotrons and piano, Korg 01/W for the synth choir, analog pad and effects, Yamaha SY77 for the wind/white noise and Akai SG01/V for the sequencing using delay through a Boss SX700. Finally mixed to cassette through a Soundcraft Spirit 12:2 desk.
Incidentally I sadly traded all the synths & effects except the JV1080 in to buy Pulsar and a better PC, having won Cubase VST 5.1/32 in a competition! Mind you I love the new setup now but miss still miss the old kit sometimes.
It’s not in Chris’s “Meditation” class but I hope you like it.

Very emotive, beautiful feelings coming out of it… There is some Pink Floyd something into it. I’m not saying kind a stile, but feelings of some Dark Side of the Moon… “Beautiful”. Please Nail, MORE from you, soon.

I like the good-hearted feelings created from about 4:15 and on… You can easily travel through the disgrace of the Volcano eruption and becomes a very real thing, like if the music would bring it to live again. I really liked this one. Thanks very much.

Agreed, sounds for a while like the big G chord from Shine on crazy Diamond Part One-
You transport the dangerous and beautyfully atmosphere of that happening in the past.
It´s nice to follow this track ,it´s emotional and unique.
Would be great if we could hear more from you ,ey!

Thanks for the comments Chris & Nestor - they're much appreciated.
I was horrified to discover that I haven't written a full track for nearly 5 years now. I had a lay off due to pressures of work and then I changed over to Pulsar & Cubase 5.1. It seems that since then I've been overawed by the technology and it's got in the way of creativity.
Anyway, at your request I'm going to upload a few more tracks from the same project but I'd be grateful if you could answer a post I'm putting into the Problem Solving forum shortly regarding audio.
Finally, I hope to be working on new tracks very soon be because I'm retiring in 5 weeks time, so I'll have the time to focus on the old music again!

This reminded me a bit of the Tangerine Dream soundtrack to The Keep - nothing specific, just in the mood. Nice stuff, very thoughtful, I just drifted away. My only criticism is that the phaser (coming in around 3:46?) seemed a bit heavy and fast. Also, as a theme it certainly starts with a red sky ominous tone, but seems to "relax" later on.

I really enjoyed it.

Thanks for the comments but I'm "gutted"! I haven't heard of "The Keep". I'm going to have to change my handle!!!!
Plan to upload a couple moreold tracks today - one may be more Tangerine Dream like than this one.

Spirit,
I almost forgot - thanks for the comments re the phaser/white noise/wind. Basically the sound was a “wind” patch that wasn’t clocked to midi timecode, but the speed was valid. The track was sync’d to a video (loosely) and based on a true story. Bearing in mind the century that it happened, the poor villagers all over Europe were in fear of the dust cloud. Cows stopped giving milk, hens stopped laying and the peasants started to blame witchcraft!
The end section portrayed the weather system fading and a wind coming in to blow the dust cloud away – back to reality and bathed in warm sunshine.
Glad you enjoyed it though.

Interesting. In that case then the mood you transfered was exactly in keeping with the story
