Take a look at this link, it seems AMD still have a few tricks up their sleeves, by managing to catch up and in some cases beat the P4 2533, despite only using a DDR333 memory interface.

This is more important for the home hobbyists than for studios, but soon with the right motherboard combination, you may be able to have power and stability at an affordable price.

I'm waiting for news about the VIA KT400 chipset, hoping the PCI issue has been solved...as it was announced earlier

And Intel released the 2.8ghz P4 yesterday, with the 3.0ghz by the end of the year.
