UA Connect Crashes on seeing Scope
UA Connect Crashes on seeing Scope
I recently raised a ticket with UA as their new native app 'UA Connect' (recently released for Windows after being Mac only) blue screens when it encounters scope as an audio source in Windows.
If I dont run Scope (XITE-1D turned off at boot), the UA Connect doesn't blue screen but just pops up a message to the effect Scope is not running.
I mentioned in the ticket that it appeared that UA Connect is attempting to talk to the Scope driver as though it were a soundcard - but its not a soundcard.
After getting my sys info file, UA will contact Sonic Core. So I'm awaiting that outcome.

Re: UA Connect Crashes on seeing Scope
I don't have UA so I don't have first-hand knowledge, but this looks like the ASIO issue some software apps have with Scope ASIO drivers.
If you have Reaper you might try opening Reaper and connecting UA to it and then Reaper to Scope.
That certainly works for me with things Black Magic DaVinci Resolve.
Hope the Victorian floods are not affecting you at present.

Thanks Maus. Our suburb is on a hill so no downflow. But we sometimes head down to the Maribynong river park for Sunday strolls or shoot the breeze with muso mates at the Anglers Tavern. Not this weekend - about 500 homes down there flooded out.

Re: UA Connect Crashes on seeing Scope
Try running 'UA Connect' alone w/ ASIO4All https://www.asio4all.org/ and if it works flawlessly,- SCOPE ASIO and UA software might not be friends anymore.

Re: UA Connect Crashes on seeing Scope
They never have been friends since they have likely never met before. UA Connect is brand new on Windows, and the only thing it does for me is let me download their native organ 'Waterfall B3' which I can do with the XITE-1D turned off. Once its downloaded and installed I can play it any time under Harrison Mixbus32C (but not under Reason because it's a VST3 beast) and with the XITE-1D turned on.
Before release, UA offered me to be a beta tester but I declined as they wanted someone who could test at least 10 hours a week. I don't have that much time a week to do any music, let alone chew that time up being a testing lacky
Nah, they can fix it or not on their own time - don't need ASIO4ALL either since I have plenty of B3 alternatives that run under Reason (including Scope's own).
Thanks for the suggestion though might come in handy in future.
Meanwhile Reason should up their game and allow VST3's to run in there DAW. Heck, even Harrison can do that.

Re: UA Connect Crashes on seeing Scope
I meant, use ASIO4ALL for a test,- just to be sure the culprit is SCOPE ASIO.
But when UA Connect works w/ Harrison Mixbus,- it might be the case anyway.

Re: UA Connect Crashes on seeing Scope
I don’t think it Scope ASIO - UA Connect is just looking for a sound card when it starts up I think. It’s the B3 that works with Harrison.
Re: UA Connect Crashes on seeing Scope
Looks like miracles do happen ! UA sent me an updated UA Connect installer via Dropbox - and it works ! Holger must have set them straight about this ‘sound card’ business
Re: UA Connect Crashes on seeing Scope
does it work? great! i thought i wan't very helpful...

Re: UA Connect Crashes on seeing Scope
Yep it worked. No more BSOD. Ankyu !
Did you just tell em Scope isn’t a sound card ?
UA Connect is just a glorified installer of UA native stuff - itself it doesn’t do any processing or use ASIO.Bud Weiser wrote: ↑Sat Oct 22, 2022 2:17 am Great !
I never ever had issues w/ SCOPE ASIO driver up to now.
Not v4/4.5, not v5.0/5.1 as also not v7.
Bud
The B3 worked anyway so getting it fixed was more for future users who had Scope/UA combination which I gather would be a very small community. Out of those the subset that would want to use UA native instruments would be even smaller. Maybe I’m the only one on the planet
Gotta say though that the Leslie Sim on it is good. Even better if it turns out I can use midi to control the rotor speed / overdrive.
Re: UA Connect Crashes on seeing Scope
yes, "it's not a soundcard" was one thing i said...
Re: UA Connect Crashes on seeing Scope
Well, I think they got that message loud and clear
Re: UA Connect Crashes on seeing Scope
Looks like UA Connect runs in 64-Bit Mode. Xite ASIo is only 32-Bit, so Windows will crash, as the Scope driver tries to access a 64-Bit address as 32-bit (i.e. upper 32 bit are set to zero or a random number).
