I posted this song called "BROKEN" before, but back then it was in trip-hop style. Now it has D&B drums, and a kind of more uplifting beats going on.

Tell me what you think?

What is this style called?

Is the verse too boring?

The outro is not at all done yet...

Hi Thalamus,
I wouldn't call it D&B. Now the track reminds me of Lamb, and what style are they? I wouldn't bother much about defining with a certain style:).I don't find the verse boring, but then again, I can't be objective as I really like your work production- and sound-wise. And stop asking questions cause you know it better

Noah,
I'm amazed.
How'd you changed the character of this song.
First one was melancholic.
This one is *soul*.
How did you manage to change the sound so much on the voice? Did she do it again or did you use the same track?
Strange.
I reckon she did again. She went in a totally different feeling and space. (Did you?) Good move! Both versions are interesting.
Seems you go along *very* well together!
Like it. Sing along with the refrain. Yeah.
btw: no foto of Tine on www? I'm curious, come on, Noah!

Hi there,

gedas: I tottally agree with you on the style definition thing. But I don't listen to so much music, and therefore dont know what styles I make is called. I dont care myself really, but it's nice to know when presenting it to someone to say, "Well, I do Eurodance" or whatever.

About asking questions: hmm, I guess when you work with a song very intensive, some times you loose control over whats really fits the song well, or what YOU think sounds best. Then I ask some of you guys, cause maybe you can tell me something I haven't though about.

COOK: I'm glad you liked the song, and yes she did sing another take in the new posting. But apart from that I've gotton the Pultec EQ with the UAD-1 card from UA (www.poweredplugins.com) which sounds absolutly amazing on vocal.

Our webpage is been reworked on by some flash-guy I know, and a lot nicer than the existing. If you like to see a press photo of us, go to http://thalamus.mymusic.dk

Dude... that was so Jungle... I have a lot of this sort of thing on vinyl... like the stuff by the likes of

Badune and Jill Scott... in fact the beat was almost the same sounding as the Badune one. I say junglish but hell... to each their own... everyone has an opinion of what is crossing the line from jungle to D&B...

The lyrics were ok... enough to get it repeating inside your head and eventualy get you singing along...

Have you thought about adding other instruments? or is this the finished piece? If you did.. I say add some horns to create more of a melody... and lastly... have you considered the priority of the sound? How loud do you want the vocals to sound... IMHO they were a bit hot, but again that is just my opinion and you know far better than I about what sounds you were looking for... its a subjective thing..

Other than that your song was cool

Keep it up!

PS. would you mind telling us what synths, FX,ect you used on this project?

Later dude,

I'm not sure that I would call it Jungle. I think D&B / Nu skool break perhaps??

Regardless, I like it lot. I love those farty basslines in my music. Have you heard of the Plump DJ's?? If not, check 'em!!

(hear my latest at http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... forum=17&0 )

I do think, however, that the addition of some horns really could provide some great results. Still, it really worx quite well as is.
