i know i should not use cracked software, but i didn´t find an actual demo version of logic, and so i used the zone-version for testing purpose (normally i work with cakewalk, licensed. but only 9.03 is running well, my brand new sonar also makes trouble, see my other thread...)

logic itself feels quite good, but the problem i have is that every five or ten minutes i get an error message saying <b>"asio system overload - the audio engine was not able to process all required data in time"</b>. <i>what the hell is this?</i> i can´t believe that zone are not able to crack a software in a way that it´s not running, on the other side i can´t explain these problems i have, because all buffers and latency settings are at highest value.

also i experienced some <i>strange behaviour of the solo and mute buttons</i> in the environment (which itself is very cool) - yesterday i sat in front if my pc and was writing something down (with a real pen, not even touching the keys

so, guys... please, where can i get a real actual demo version of logic? have looked several times on the emagic web page, but found only a 3.5 demo, and... that´s a little antiquated...
and what do you think? are my probs related to the fact that it´s a cracked version (though i can´t believe, because then zone had fixed it during the last weeks), or is it more like logic doesn´t like my computer (p3b + p2 400, riva tnt)?

thanks in advance, and <b>please have fun</b>
Mo

Glad to see a user admitting his problems and ready to seek assistance. maybe you should join "warez-users anonymous"

I suggest you keep an eye out for the English magazine "computer music" or similar, maybe "future music" from the same publisher. What about any German magazine ?

If the demo is not already on the street it may be soon, as they continuously give away demos fo all 3 major sequencer-updates on the cover CD.

Try http://www.computermusic.co.uk or http://www.intermusic.co.uk

Hope this will help you with your problem.

Cheers

well, i very hope that they will make a demo of 5.0. and i hope they give (like steinberg) all versions (silver, gold, platinum) that 24-bit support, so (if logic convinces me) i´ll certainly buy it. but i would really like to run the crack first, to really work with that stuff a few months - too much?

btw, i also bought sonar - apart from that sonar keeps telling me i can´t record because my audio disk is full (still 4gb free)... so i´m very careful, testing the soft under real-life circumstances, not possible with a demo imho. want to <i>work</i> with it.

of course, in germany we have the KEYBOARDS magazine, but... well, 'computer music' sounds more like the zine i should read

however, i had hoped to hear something like <i>"ah, this issue is typical for cracked versions"</i> or better: <i>"i used exactly that version, and it worked"</i> or even better: <i>"i´m tired of making music with pc´s, buy my LAP for 50€..."</i>

ok ok, i think i´ll go back to version 9.03 of cakewalk... also licensed, but unlike sonar it´s working... and trying to get that zone-logic working on the test-partition...

however, thanks

Hey Mo.. this is a problem which often occurs using logic regardless of the card or ther version of logic... imply stop playback , reward to the beginning and start the playback again...if that didn´t help, try the option Larger process buffer and larger diskbuffer within the audio hardware & driver settings...if you´re using ASIO drivers make sure you set the busses to use 16 busses etc...

The cracked version of Logic does that, Mo.

You don't mention what version you're running. Make sure you have at least 4.7. I haven't had that message for a long time, but I think it came about when I would switch between Pulsar and Logic a lot. Try keeping Logic in focus at all times and seeing if that helps.

 you mean it´s a little equalization for the fact that zone´s logic is 'free'?

ok, i´m only testing logic (4.7) at the moment, and yes, it often occurs when i swiched to pulsar to do something in the mixer and then back to logic, and then there was this message.

in the cw forum a friendly emagic employee told me about 5.0 - 24bit support in every version and individual outs for the audio instruments. i think i´ll save a little amount of money ´till september  if it´s <b>not doing this annoying asio overload terror</i> like the zone´s... does logic still have a dongle as copy protection?

btw, anyone knows the difference between dx8 and dx8a? do i need dx8a? maybe there is the source of my trouble?

thanks again
Mo

I'm still running DirectX 7.0. However, my roomie runs DirectX 8.0a with Pulsar and hasn't reported any problems -- and he actually uses his machine.
