I had the same problem than all of you. It seems to be a Software bug, and you can download the AKAI.dll newest file from CW page.

CAn't read akai cd's with sfp 3.1 and win2k

...because it is definetely a ASPI-problem. I had the same problems, altough using Win 98SE, but after installing the ASPI all in one package (found on one of these sites)and rebooting my system all the problems were gone. The AKAI CD was then readable in the SFP Explorer Window again. I realized that the problem occured after uninstalling a software, that was using ASPI dll´s. Because of the buildin uninstall routine the program thaught, that it hasn´t shared the ASPI device to other apps.
You can easiely check your ASPI status by using a burning-software like Nero or WinOnCD and trying to capture CD-audio files from a Audio CD or you use the little app called: "aspi you", which is on the site listed as the first link. If the program says, that there might be a problem, then you can be sure, that your ASPI-stuff isn´t properly installed.
