gearslut-> I can't believe you're saying this, if you actually have heard and played with the minimax. In your opinion the only thing new to the sounddesign is faster envelopes?
Well, I'll tell you, almost anything inside is new, the oscillators (More overtones), the filters (now distort and saturate in a VERY autentic and NICE way).
All in all it's a whole new device, and, no, I don't think it's for purists only. Have a listen, man, don't you think it sounds beatiful? Last time my knees went this soft, was when I heard the Pro-one of zarg.
When I hear an instrument, I don't care about who made it, the label on the case, (or the price for that matter). I'm all there for the sounds to inspire me. And Minimax delivers in this area.
The price? Hmm, the minimax is an remarkable achiement in softsynth area. So, if you don't ask me to compare it to native synth prices or the like (which certenly doens't have this quality), then I think the price is OK for now.
It's like INTEL top of the range processors... There's allways a big gab from the fastest processor to the next fastest. It's all new, so you pay for that.

To me it looks like you have losed control to suppress the outrage people there but here no one creamware haters since to have the confidence to say whatever they want to.
Just to be sure: This is not about whether you like Creamware or not, this is about ATTITUDE. And yours, my friend, has been a little bit too hostile and negative for my tastes lately. (to say the least).
if people dont like cw why would they hang around planetz, it seems very strange to me.
i wont go to a gay bar explaining to them why i like girls, and that they should too.

I don't want to intrude in other people's crap, but if I may, I'll say this to John: You qualify Algorythm's comment as "provocation". Trying as hard as I can, I can't find any such thing in his comment. Maybe it wasn't the most appropriate ever, but hey! with such a reaction from Late, it seems to touch a sensitive area... I find your attitude inappropriate, to say the least, in blaming Algorythm and excusing Late's heinous comment alleging that it has been "provoked". To speak frankly, I find this pathetic, and if someone served such comments as Late's in my own home, I'd be close of throwing him out. That's only me, you do what you want, but this single agressive and vulgar comment spoils this whole forum, and that is unfortunate.
I tend to be able to just ignore people so I don't understand the problem.
If this moog thing is that good and new I would buy it but certainly not at that ridiculous price.
That is my opinion and probably most other SFP users.
What price should it be?
I won't buy anything unless it is $50.00. I would prefer to pay for platform upgrades rather than get them free and have all this cool stuff included as an incentive. It should be like once every 3-4 years so there are a lot of goodies. I would pay $150.

Gotcha...Well, I appreciate those updates and free new plug-ins, but we are all beta testing this stuff together with a gauranteed two day headache every time an update does come out. Thank god for Planet Z! Some upgrades make things worse IMHO, such as SFP randomly disappearing from the systray requiring me to exit and restart, and losing compatability with the Saturn. I did finally get Minimax to work after starting, exiting and restarting SFP following installation, not to mention the convoluted demo aquisition ( why did I think it would be simple.) It does sound pretty damn FAT, no dissent here on that. If one didn't own any Moog emulators, the Minimax would be worth every penny. All I'm saying is that the increase in utility over the Miniscope, which most CW cards include,is not worth $200. ~$200 buys a halfway decent non-virtual analog synth like the Akai AX60 or 80 with a hands-on user interface and 6-8 EXTRA voices of polyphony.
Yeah, the minimax rocks, the sound is very fat. Combined with the vinco - really useable. Do they plan to include the vinco or the minimax into the Scope-Pack? I hope so. And, if someone wishes he had more power, just buy the Scope - it´s not that expensive, because you can get them second hand already. I´ve got one Scope/SP (with TDAT-PlugIn) for sale, just drop me a line under Briefkastenopa@gmx.net. *Commercial mode off*

slightly OT but people were asking before.
About synths being "open" for modification by third parties, and "rompler" type synths.
There are only certain of the original creamware synths open for modification. only the ones you see about on the devices forum, such as Bluesynth, Miniscope, and inferno. none of the later ones have been released "open"
A rompler synth could be made, It would use about the same PCI as a sampler with a single layer playing that many notes (not much in other words) Also I think a wave player uses less DSP than a regular oscillator.
There is a device called "standalone wav pool" which has all the samples from Roland JD800 Carefully sampled by Ben Walker. and the device is made by John Bowen.
you can drag the sounds into a wav player on a synth. They will then be loaded automatically if a preset is saved.
I am working on a synth using this.
The only problem right now is the wav pool has to be loaded seperately and first for the synth to be able to use its presets.
John may able to make it so i can Have the Wav pool right inside the synth.
You can also load and save different wavs into the pool so you could trade sample sets/preset lists.

I certainly did not excuse Late for his behavior. I just said I understand he was frustrated for people continuing to accuse him of being DXL- hey I'd be frustrated too. IMHO, there was nothing offensive about his 2 earlier posts in this thread (except for poor english). I just want people to forget about DXL and treat new people as new people, ok?On 2002-07-16 18:59, eliam wrote:

The way Late replied to Algo was totally offensive, and self-destructive as I said in my reply. I'm not going to be trigger-happy with the bans - this guy basically effected his own ban with his stupidity. It would certainly appear that he realized this, as he's asked to be deleted and won't be coming back. Fine.

Thalamus - I was really disappointed by that too. I bet "new" /SPs will eventually come with them though?
I wish Creamware's policies were more clear, or that there was some way to be sure to get all new devices like a device club where you pay a fee. I guess I just thought with the insane price disparity between a PowerPulsar and a SCOPE/SP that these devices should really be included...

Just look at the new minimoog voyager and it's price. Then come back and whine about those CW prices again
For something that basically does the same as the minimax (okay maybe some more features) it must have awfully expensive wooden casing and keyboard
(or maybe there's a Bob Moog autograph on it?)
Seriously though, although we all would like our devices cheap or free, realistically for software this good I don't think these prices are very high, also compared to other softsynths and VST's on the market. And then we're not een talking about hardware.
Someone mentioned an Akai AX60 for $200/$300 dollar, and although I don't know what it is I seriously doubt it will be as good as a minimoog. Just about all other hardware synths will be many times that price. (except maybe for DX7-like digital synths)

I don't agree with your point of view, Subhuman, I don't think there is a such insane price difference with Scope Cards and others.
I bought a Pulsar 1 and SRB 1, and then a Luna. I bought all the Scope synths that are available for "free" for Scope owners.
Do you know what? I've spent more money buying all this stuffs than if I bought a Scope. And I have only 11 DSPs, not 15. And I havn't PsyQ and others mastering tools. If I want them, I must pay again.
So when you say Scope owners should have Vinco and Minimax and what is going to come later for free when you want the others Creamware to pay the same plugins, I can't agree with this point of view.
Creamware's plugins must be free for all Creamware's users, I think the hardwares differences are enough to justify the prices differences.
My opinion about Minimax: this synth is a killer.
When I bought Pulsar1, in 1999, I dreamed about synths like this and FXes that can be compared to the best dedicated audio hardwares.
I was disapointed at this time by the Pulsar FXes (especially the reverbs, at this time they was laughable), but I choose to trust Creamware and their ability to code high-end processors and synths.
It took time, but now here we are, we have few very good FX and synths on this platform, the kind of stuff that I dreamed of in 1999.
At this moment, the only thing I regret about Creamware is their communication and the fact that they have released the SFP 3.1 too soon, with so much bugs that gave to me and others stupid problems. I hope this kind of situation will never happen again. Creamware's teams should know how to avoid this kind of destructive situation, and they should avoid it.
200€ for Minimax? I think it is a right price, considering his extreme sounding quality and musicality.
