This is C236 Asus Xeon E3-1275 w/ Windows 10 and the PCI Overflow when using a VST Host is not going to work.
I’ve seen the C232 ASRock working so I bought an ASRock C236 to see if that will work.

Scope 7 on my Z97m WS and H97n WS work fantastically.
If this ASRock board won’t work I’m through with trying 1U builds.
I’ll stick with 4U as I can try many different boards out.

My new 1 x 88 Note Controller with PC and Hardware Synth racks.
Nice compact rig. The RCFs go where the QWERTY/Mouse/Monitor are.
Everything is on wheels.



Too bad about the Asus. Notice the fans, the NVMe placement, perfect airflow.



As you can see the old H97m WS and Z97m WS 1Us love new Scope 7 and Windows 8.1.
Asus has a bad habit of overclocking their motherboards, its the only reason I can think that the Host would cause overflow issues.

The guy said no, but I did assume he updated the BIOS.
SOP @ most places.
But he did my panel LEDs and Fan speeds, etc. perfectly.

At least he said it would be a freebie, so I’ll check back here before I open my trap again.
Well now I got a spare C236 from ASRock coming.

Damn I’ll now have spare brand new Z97 ATX for the 4U, H97m WS spare and a C236 spare.
Good thing too.
eBay and Amazon bottom feeders want 600 bucks for an H97m WS....!!!!

C236 but I got real busy and sent to it the man to Finish the build.
Using the good old H97 atm.

Pretty sure PCI Overflow on all my builds is because I stopped using hardware FX and had too many Reverbs.
I just decided I just need a good Splash on everything and ran out of I/Os.
Main Outs from XITE-1 into the TC Fireworx then out to powered stage monitors sounds great.
No PCI Overflow since.

I get crackles @ 48k and didn’t want to use the A16 so this works better than I thought.
Reverb actually wrapsaroud the Audio like hardware should.
I just get that ducking quality too often from Native or DSP.
Not so much when recording, but it fizzles out on larger cabinets.
Now it seems to be like I remembered old Hardware and analog mixers.

I post back here once I get AGoose P10m WS back.
That Xeon was running really cool @ 3.8.
But I need a new 1U. I like knowing the H97 is a good stable spare to have just in case.

Thanks for all the info on the C236's. If you can hit similar number of reverbs on your h97, then use that as a benchmark and that indicates that either one of the devices on the newer system is stealing cpu time (interrupt/DPC related) and not releasing in time, or that the PCI implementation (specific to those boards? for C236 in general?) is not happy with the Scope cards.

There can be may reasons for this, but Scope is an interesting combination of massive amounts of PCI bandwidth *and* critical timing, where most other solutions will tend towards one or the other (rather than both), which imo is why Scope has always shown the limitations of a PCI implementation over any other peripheral that I am personally aware of.

I'm still interested in that Xeon build I indicated with that other board, as soon as I have funds to spare I will embark on that and report my results. I think a 2001 era Xeon is probably a bit long in the tooth now =]
