Here is a pop tune ala tribute to Depeche Mode called "All a Lie"

The vocals are not finished, but I thought I would post the tune to get feedback.

*I have a thick skin...don't worry*

Synths used:

Prisma (chords)
Miniscope (bassline)
Plasma (Drums)
Uknow (bass sweep)
Lightwave (strings)
Inferno (square lead)

This was a test of my new SRB addition...all the synths were running in one project, no reloads !

Cheers

Nice little synth-pop song you've got going there!

Your mix sounds good. Are you using any mastering tools or such?

Hiya Kam,

Listened to this before but got some spare time now to post a little word of comment. I like the style you've adopted to make this song. Is that you doing the vocals? I think there's really potential in this though there's some work to do ...

Need:
Thanks for the listen...and well...yes. I record on Pro Tools....and I really like the wonderful Waves plugins. (I wish they would make them for CW...but that is another story)

I don't bounce to disk and then re-import...but I do add my eq curves and compression / limiting on the master fader.

For the final master eq I added a touch of compression (maybe 2-3 db total on peaks) using the Bombfactory emulation of a LA-2A, and then next came the Waves L1+ Ultramaximizer plug (a wonderful limiter if you have never used it). Individual elements were EQ'd and compressed on their respective tracks.

There is also a frequency analyzer plug called PAZ that I use to check the spread and fix problem peaks....

Val: Thanks for listening...yeah it's me singing

Cheers

Kamurah, thanks for your specs! Are you in general compressing individual tracks? I've usually just compressed the mix with C4 and added L1 in Wavelab. Though I'm not yet satisfied with the sound I get, working on my studio technique...

Do you have links for the plugs you're mentioning (except Waves) Or is it pure Protools?

Need: It depends on the sound. Drums: Usually compressed on the track. Bass: sometimes....sometimes just eq.... I will sometimes compress a filter sweep to even out the Q so it doesn't spike on one freq to much. It really depends on the sound I am going for. Often just pure synth sounds (chords, pads, leads, etc) will not get compression. A lot of things that compressors fix can also be done through fader automation...but this takes time to tweak...

Here are some links to other Plugins I use....I haven't checked to see which formats they produce, but you can ask them if they don't have it posted:

http://www.mhlabs.com (Their Channelstrip is pretty good IMO)

http://www.bombfactory.com (I use both the LA-2A, and their 1176 emulations, and sometimes the Joemeek plugs)

http://www.mcdsp.com (their Analog Channel and Compressorbanks are good)

And then of course Waves. Everything of theirs is top notch....but I particularly like C4, Renaissance Comp, and the L1. I used to use S1 too (the spacial enhancer...but that was before I had CW synths...I find that the CW synthesizers are much "wider" in a mix and so I don't need the S1 very often.

Hope this helps....
