Psy trance - lots of Noah - proOne. Made in bitwig.
Some other guests, bass station 2, blofeld, kurzweil pc3k
, technics wsa 1.
The trance genre is something I find technically very hard to do - so consider it a curiosity, made for fun.
Music specially made for no audience (Tm) :p

Re: Higen - long long float
Don't worry, it's close enough
The right synth sounds, nice breaks, nice freqs, and the right trippy spirit
I think the rolling effect of kick and bass so typical for the genre could use some attention.
The synthbass doesn't hook together enough with the kick.
Rule of the house: on the meter the kick should be exactly 5 dB louder dan the bass to get that effect...if both sounds are well chosen, which is the case btw.

I'm not genre-savvy...
but there's also some touch of New Order and Vince Clark to it
did you intentionally leave the huge headroom ?
if listened with low level, it makes the track a bit dull
one single complaint: the noise hi-hat ... the rest is cool
cheers, Tom

Re: Higen - long long float
I have to say that i agree - but i end up using so much time on the details, that it ends being fun making music.. i dont think i have the skillz in my blood for this kind of musicI think the rolling effect of kick and bass so typical for the genre could use some attention.

if i answer "yes" to this, does it makes me a true master of mixing?did you intentionally leave the huge headroom ?

anyway - no, its a direct side-effect of my lacking mixing skills. - i guess i can kill some more dynamics.. its not jazz anyway

i do not have any hi-hat made out of noise, however i have shakers - and phased hi-hats, that once where 6-bits samples.. but not noise..one single complaint: the noise hi-hat ... the rest is cool
so i am not sure what you are referring to, is it the one in the start?
Well.. i am not that hard on genre´s my self.. i tend to just having fun when making music.. and sticking to the rules is not in my "fun-book"I'm not genre-savvy...
but there's also some touch of New Order and Vince Clark to it

thank you both so much for feedback, its great tips for improvements!

Re: Higen - long long float
yes, it was quite in the beginning and it seemed to me that it was some modulated noise source
(which wouldn't be unusual for an electro hi-hat)
but: I may have had a routing error on my monitors (as they serve 3 systems), will check again...
the mentioning of Vince Clark or NewOrder was more for fun - not to categorize
it just reminded me on that sound - and it melted great with 'trance'
I'm not a fan of contemporary big loudness at all, and rather appreciate the way you mixed it
my tool of choice for final impact would be Anwida's L1V
http://www.anwida.com/product.asp?pid=14
it's an excellent tool to make up things from a little bit more present to mighty loud, but without distortion
worth trying... I almost never use compression for loudness anymore
cheers, Tom
ps: in fact I had some kind of mono path active, now the hi-hats are ok and the sound is great indeed
no more dullness - I assume that was due to phase issues of the monitoring - sorry for messing things up
