Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
Hello,
I installed windows 10 with no problem and reinstalled my scope drivers.
But since, I get some craking noises.
Sometimes each 10 minutes, but sometimes every 10 seconds ... and it disappears to come back.
Any idea ??
Thank you

Re: Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
that could be almost anything. this is the ASIO drivers, right?
check your bios settings, check for backround processes that only run every few minutes, check for shared irqs.

Re: Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
thank you, was not a question of IRQ or Asio ...
I have to disable EIST and as it was not available in my bios I did this :

and it works, even on WIndows 10
Yeppee !!

Re: Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
personally I never made it to get rid of this strange random 30 minuntes - 10minutes...sometimes 30 seconds glitch... in WAVE source...
Asio.. is perfect for me... but \scopes wave source never was...
Same always behaviour in windows xp,7,10 and also in about 5 moutherboards... at every ully setting...
PS ..these never appear in onboard audio.....
tryied with every combination of pci slot and scope pci cards... using my pulsar6dsp alone... scope14dsp alone.. or both bridged..
I believe that not every scope user has noticed because it doesnt seem that importand because for pro work we usually use asio..
BUT IT HAPPENS
wave source is not 100% quiet... tested in inernet browsers and in many windows media players without internet connection and with most onboard devices turned off....
always the same nomatter bios settings.. EIST etc.....
there could be a fix though

Re: Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
I have never experienced this. (i have a laptop though). Have you checked in windows audio settings the scope driver to have the correct sample rate (in advanced settings). Also i'm not sure it is safe to play with the BIOS settings these days.
Re: Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
lucky you.....
Personally I use scope in a very quiet environment and always with my genelecs 1032A studio monitors....
Perhaps there is something I miss.....
For creating music... I always use asio... and there I never have the issue..
But for listening to some vynil ripped audio VIA wave source and windows media players. there is always this problem...
unless I load the wav files in a sequenser project running with asio... but that is not very handy....

Re: Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
I'm not sure it is a matter of luck.
There is no reason the wave source to suffer with clicks and noises.
In my system i can also use WASAPI with 4ms latency click free.
The wave driver with 50-200 ms latency does not put any stress to the system.
Hope you''l find a solution.

Re: Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
for normal use it is ok
I am talking about some random glitches every once in a while.......

Re: Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
the 64bit wave driver has a problem. this is not new information.
Re: Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
the same problem exactly for 32bit here
Re: Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
GaryB, perhaps If someone follows exactly ALL the tweaks you suggest in many posts + IF he has the perfect choice of a motherboard... = this may be the solution!!! In that case it means that ...SOMEWHERE... I break the chain of the optimized settings for audio... SO I stopped trying since I never made it with this Scopes WAVE source nomatter 32 or 64 bit 12 years now...
Re: Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
IF we are talking about a perfectly quiet wave source!!
Re: Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
wave drivers aren't so good.
Re: Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
? I didn't know the Xite exists for 12 years... 2003?
Sorry guys you must be doing something wrong...
Wave drivers are fine, the sound is exactly the same as Asio or whatever.
Random glitches? How do you spot these? Do you have a recording?
You have a really quiet room and "genelec" monitors so what?
Also the title is misleading "Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises".
Where does it say that there is a problem with the wave drivers?
Xite Scope 5.1 or the wave driver does not has random cracks and noises and SURELY you are doing something wrong.
Perhaps GaryB also is doing something wrong...
@GaryB
What do you mean "wave drivers are not so good"?
#1 rule
Stop messing with these BIOS settings, you are ruining your systems...
And stop changing motherboards...

Re: Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
many users have problems with VERY minor and random clicks with the wave drivers. some do not. i'm sure that the systems have something to do with this, but the wave drivers aren't perfect. most music production will use ASIO anyway. for listening to the internet or MP3s, the wave drivers are fine. personally, i haven't seen problems in 32bit but....
the main issue that i've seen is that the wave destination modules don't work correctly in 64bit. again, this might be fixable in the windows audio setup, it's not a priority for me or any of my clients, though.
Re: Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
Never had them.
Actually there is an issue with the wave driver, it does not record in 96Khz
And yes you have to match the setting in the windows audio properties with the sample rate of scope
so to work right at sample rates different to 44100.
To do this put your sample rate to 44100. Go to the control panel audio properties.
See the "advanced" pad. Open it. Now change the sample rate at scope.
Go to the advanced properties page and match the setting. Everything works fine...

Re: Xite Scope 5.1 random cracks and noises
great.
i'm glad everything is good for you. i believe that i've done exactly that and still had no luck recording through the wave driver, but as i said, it's never been a priority. playback has always been ok for me.

As I mentioned before... It is ok listening to music through wave source of scope... I said it is not perfect.
I don't care that much though, since ASIO works 99%perfect
Also the title of the discussion is about random glitches in XITE Scope 5.1 which is the software interface for both XITE and PCI cards from CREAMWARE TIMES more than 15 years ago. This is one of the nice things of soniccore as a company,.. keeps the feeling of a HARDAWARE PHILOSPHY,,, but anyway...
I mentioned my genelecs and quiet environment.... just to let you know that PERHAPS I have been spending hours and hours listening to music (mp3s,wavs, vynil rips, personal appearances-some of them recorded with high quality equipment, some of them with piano and voice only...... Ofcourse I have many recordings and these random glitches ARE NOT RECORDED.. they are Reproduced randomly when played through WAVE source.......(MOTHERBOARD ONBOARD audio out iS WORSE THAN scope in sound quality BUT DOES NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE - PERIOD )..
PLEASE!!! DON'T MAKE ME INSTALL SCOPE 3 and all the following since 5.1 just to SHOW YOU THE EXACT SAME ISSUE...
We're supposed to understand each other when describing "random glitch"
