It is curioius that we now need Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 for the install

I am now in the stage they ask for up to 3 sequencers to be integrated with XTC mode, I will not use XTC, so I am canceling it.

What a shitty message comes up now... je je... all in red colour, like if you were doing something realy bad, becasue the driver is not signed up with Microsoft. Remember I have never used Win 7 before. Well, I trust Sonic Core one million times in positive, and Microsoft one million times in negative...

Time to restart... wow.... that may be something unimportant for you guys, for me it is such a great event...

The two Pulsar cards are registered properly by the system. One of them is in IRQ 13 (19) and the other in IRQ 10 (16)

Launching the software... for the first time, the icon is different, the welcome message too, I think I preferedsd the old one. Then it has stoped in "registration"... I have already imported the keys, everything is fine. I have imported the keys in the Gary's Pulsar I card.

Well, unfortunately there is an error now, it says:

Installation error

There is no STDM connection from Pulsar (brd 0) to Pulsar (ord 1)
Please check STDM cable connections.

Well, I will suitch off now and check what is going on, cable could be bad, or it may have a bad connection too, don't know...

Before that there is a second message that says:

System Error

Installation error: There is no STDM connection from Pulsar (brd 0) to Pulsar (brd 1).

Please check STDM cable connections.

The hardware will no londer respond to any changes, but you might be able to save your project before termination the application!

Well, it is the same message after all.

Mmm, no... the cards are properly installed, both of them... the SC software nevertheless, does not report any of the cards. If I try to load anything, like a synth to try out, it would say:

Registration
Hardware serial Nº.
No board found
Please select the appropiate Hardware

Try a cold boot. Pull the power cord for a few seconds then plug back in. The installation software should have detected the cards...

Remove the cards, boot up the computer. Shut it down and put the cards back in...

The procedure installation will have to change, as I could not install both cards at the same time. I am working with Gary's card and everything is fine witn Scope 5.1. I have not yet done anything to the system, not even installed cubase, etc., so it is not yet a good moment to test performance, but at least, I can keep going as everyting loads correctly. I will carry on with the rest of the installation, and then I will try to add the second card.

It is most probably the STDM cable. Now, shoudn't the second Pulsar card be recognized even if the cable is broken?

Well, I don't know much about all these... but I'm happy I can carry on and then add the second card in a given moment.

If everything is connected properly and the cables are good, you can install with all of them. I installed with 3 'big' cards and 5 STDM cables, no issues here...

Oh, I made my own cables using quality 3M connectors. Those cheap ones didn't work properly...

dirty connectors on the cards or cable. try cleaning the contacts.
perhaps the s/tdm cable is not working correctly...

Which are the basic, most important tweaks I should be applying to a Win 7 64 system for Scope?

The MOBO installed automatically all the audio stuff from Realtek, I have to uninstall or disable it I understand, as a starting point. Everything is so new…

Just read the readme.txt that comes with Scope 5.1... Disabling SpeedStep is the most important. And all the useless onboard devices like serial, video, and audio.

Thank you, I've done it all so far, and this is my report:

I have disable everything in the BIOS recommended in the link.

I did not find the “intel C state” in the BIOS, unless we are talking about every “C” state support, like “C3, C6 and C7 state support”, which I think I should not disable.

Going to the system information to see possible conflicts, I found this, unfortunately, in regard to Pulsar, even if for the moment I only have one board installed:

Should I disable the "audio board" in the BIODS too, or even uninstall Realtek driver all toguether?

I am playing back an mp3, and I have stutters every 3 seconds aprox, I don't have any time left right now, but will be back in one or two days.

yes, don't disable anything that isn't in the list.

you can disable built-in audio if you like, but it's not essential, especially if you may want to use it.

what player stutters? not all of them play well with Scope. many require a real soundcard(like the built-in audio) to work correctly.

the irq conflict shouldn't be an issue at all. the main problem makers are usb and firewire, and really only usb. a network adaptor sharing and irq with a card might make trouble if the network were being used. otherwise, no. really? no irqs shared with usb? should be no problem, then.

the playback problem comes from Foobar, many people have problems in Win 7 64. I will change player, that's it, as there is no way to fix the problem, I did all the possible fixes, but no luck.

I'm glad this IRQ sharing is not important, very cool!
