I had always thought that Win 7 had touch screen support. I think that was a big selling point for some people. I personally don't like fingerprints on my screen
My mac pro takes too much time to boot, because RME Raydat mixer interface and the RME Settings panel start up automatically, also UAD's control panel shows up for a few seconds.
I googled for it, but it looks like it's not a valid item.
I checked the startup items folder (from within the Terminal after a command ''show hidden files').
No result.
If I close/quit both 'programs' this doesn't matter when opening Cubase: all is working then.
Fast boot is worth something if you take a computer on stage. But overall, even if various things have moved around, I am finding win 8 extremely fast and reliable. Even if it's a little finicky with older hardware and drivers.
true.
windows7 on an SSD already boots and loads Scope and Bidule in about 60 seconds, though. some synths aren't much faster. still, there's obviously nothing wrong with faster boots. i don't think i'd upgrade just for that, though.
I have an SSD and it's not the fastest you can get. Win 7 boots up before the logo finishes animating. (maybe around 20 seconds from pressing the power button or so?). I can see how a faster boot would be nice for live though.
My DAW (with Win 7) loads from cold start to finish in about 15 seconds. It was slightly faster with 8.1 which also shut down faster.
I had zero love for 8.1 in spite of the faster load/unload times which means virtually nothing to me. 15 seconds is nothing. It takes me longer to find my cup of coffee or straighten my package in the morning. It takes longer for Scope Xite to load a simple mixing program than it takes Windows to boot up. I spend way way way more time waiting for Scope/Xite to load projects throughout the day
8.1 afforded me absolutely no financial or technical benefit for my company. None. Nothing. Nada.
