One of my favorite oldtime R&B/Soul singers. What a soulful voice that could evoke intense emotions in a listener. Such songs as ;"When a man loves a woman; i've been loving you too long; If loving you is wrong I don't want to be right, etc" are classics that will live on as great songs in any era. Forever memorable voice from the past when music was all together better than now (after the 1990's something went wrong IMO). Really sad to see all the real talent slowly die off while countless more of the non-talented take over.

RIP Percy Sledge ..

Well said! RIP, my wife will surely cry when I tell her....

Here's a link to Percy Sledge performing 'Live' his biggest hit "When a man loves a woman" wich was a number one hit from his debute that catapulted him into fame - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYb84BDMbi0

'When a man loves a woman' is a song some consider to be one of the greatest of all time.

thanks for the link Sounddesigner, nice to hear a life TV recording of the song without the ambient of the studio version.
Actually the added room doesn't make any difference in power.
Great orchestration anyway.

So-o rhythmically as he phrases...
