i did it.
Finally i will reach higher ground.
Just bought two Pulsar 1 with STDM cable and 5.1 Software included.
As i wrote before i have a Luna 2 with 5.1 Software, which i only used for testing.
So i understand i don´t need to transfer anything.
If i could buy a Pulsar 2 in future i can´t transfer those keys to the new card,
as the keys are bound to the hardware, right?
With the cards i get a STDM cable.
I see 3 connections. So i can connect all my three cards with it (Luna2, 2 Pulsar 1)?
Or would i need an additional STDM cable?
As i can count to three, i think.....would be enough....
This thing with cset.ini:
I guess i have to do it after i installed all cards, right?
Because the cards will not be in my cset.ini
The maximum are 3 cards in one machine, right?
Im still on win xp and will install Win 7 and 5.1 Software now.
That will take some days i think, as i also want to upgrade my CPU.
I have a total of 8 GB Ram. At the moment i use 4 GB, 4 gb laying here, waiting.
So Win 7, 64 bit would be the thing to go, right?
I read about the Intel EIST and so on, just couldn´t find something like "Overspeed Protection" in my bios.
Gigabyte P35-DS3R
Is there something else clever to do, maybe related to transfer of licences?
Thanks brothers and sisters!
the humble Luna user doesn`t exist anymore
Re: the humble Luna user doesn`t exist anymore
one cable is enough.
as long as you get the keyfile, there is nothing further you need in the way of registration.
you shouldn't need to deal with the cset, or with bios setting that aren't in your bios.
64bit is fine, but you should be aware that a few things won't work, mainly the STS samplers and XTC mode. also, a Pulsar1 will reduce PCI resources available as it doesn't handle PCI traffic as well as the newer Luna2 and Pulsar2.

Re: the humble Luna user doesn`t exist anymore
thanks Gary!
STS and XTC mode is not important for me.
Worse PCI performance will result in less tracks and also in less devices (or voices for synths)?
Do i need both keyfiles, then? Or are the key files of the Luna enough?
The software and included devices look identical.
I guess during install i will point to the keys, then i may point two times to the Luna keys?
Do i need to install drivers two times?

Re: the humble Luna user doesn`t exist anymore
If all cards show in your device manager then one install should be enough. If you only use 1 reverb then track limit may not be too bad. I use 3 cards with only 1 STDM and its fine. Maybe only the bigger cards need 2.
Re: the humble Luna user doesn`t exist anymore
cool, cool, cool!
Thank you!
Thank you!

Re: the humble Luna user doesn`t exist anymore
only one card needs keys.
be sure to get the keyfile from the old user, though. it goes with the card and there's no guarantee that you can replace it, exactly. the keyfile is part of what you pay for.

Re: the humble Luna user doesn`t exist anymore
The system isn't set up still, but simple question (a quick search didn't show me the answer):
Will the analog inputs of the cards summate?
I mean if i plug in a Luna II and a Pulsar I, will i have 4 inputs?
Thanks!
Edit
i found the answer.

Physically yes - also logically and sonically - if you add a mixer to your project and connect the analog inputs of both cards to it.cemhot wrote:Will the analog inputs of the cards summate?

That's cool!
So no need for an external box.
Thank you very much, dante!
