Cubase vst problem

Hello
After a very long time I come back to making music
My actual system that I try to use again after 2 years of silence is :
Xite + Cubase SX3
Even if I think that my problem is not really xite related I hope that some of you may have some ideas to help me resolve the problem
I have many VST plugins but there are 2 VST that I used very often (EDIROL Super Quartet and EDIROL Orchestral) - and just this 2 plugins do not load when I try to add a VST intrument. All the other VST instruments seem to work fine.
The first time I try to load the VST I can see the beginning of loading (a blue progress bar) but it disappears at something like 60% and then nothing happens. No other error.
I tried to reinstall the plugin - same story.
When I stopped using my system 2 years ago it worked fine and now this.
I can't understand what happened and how I can convince cubase to accept the plugin
So please if you have any Idea : give me a hint !

Failing a less radical solution (like reinstalling Cubase or re-seating your RAM and blowing dust out of the mobo etc ), reinstall everything from OS up, on another partition (dual boot) or if you have another machine available. To eliminate system problem.

What OS are you running ?

I'm running windows XP - its an old machine but I had never a real problem with it
I posted this question to avoid radical solutions like reinstall all
