Marked improvement in Dynamic Range
Re: Marked improvement in Dynamic Range
Hi garyb
I do use Kontakt and other plugins such as Toontrack and Garritan, which do use a fair amount of memory.
I just pulled up task manager, and of my 8GB (including web browser, email and other programs such as Media Player and FTP client) I am only using 2.7GB without caching in the drum plugin, but that is enough to cause caching in Windows in a 4GB system. 4.1GB is committed as far as Windows is concerned and take away the extra apps I have 3.5GB in use.
Do you see the sense now in having 64 bit support?
Also, because Cubase does not allow you to order instruments on the rack and when moving from Instrument Tracks to the Rack, often you need more than one instance open but being an engineer first and "fiddler" second you would not know this.
UAD did it, so did Native instruments, Toontrack and Garritan did it as well.
TC was a supreme laggard in this regard and to an extent so is Sonic Core. SSL never even made it to the club and IK keep promising but now that we are in a transition phase the future will probably be 64 bits wide.
Also, I don't need XTC mode. The only reason I need scope at all is because of the synthesizers and hardware mixing and it is a cheaper option than RME for the latter scenario.

why don't you understand that i'm more than happy to see you use 64bit?
am i that poor of a communicator?

So is that an admission that you were wrong to say I didn't need 64 bit support?garyb wrote:![]()

Bro, I didn't start this.hubird wrote:man stop your nonsense debates...
Originally it was 32 vs 64 bit, a common but silly theme that S|C people have been engaged in for some time.
Now it has become an issue of entitlement about who can be creative vs fiddling or engineering with music.

Re: Marked improvement in Dynamic Range
You have a pattern of criticizing S|C, SCOPE, Garyb, and the community every chance you get. This no doubt is the hallmark of a troll. I only hope the moderator notices your 'clever trolling'. YOU JUST ADMITTED TO USING KONTACT and garyb stated IF YOU USE KONTAKT (lots of samples) THEN 64bit IS NEEDED, he never said don't use it or try to force his opinions on you as you state, only gave his insight and opinions, so its obvious your trying to twist his words to villainize him and make it appear as if you're the victim here and to shift focus from your dirty-deeds. Even when he tells you again he has no problem with you using 64bit you won't let the conflict die you quickly try to villainize again, is life that pathetic for you? If SCOPE, S|C, garyb, the forum community, etc does not operate in a way that you like then why not leave them alone and move on? It's obvious this isn't the platform for you, Sonic Core may never operate like you want so do the right thing and leave. You'll spare yourself a lot of anger and frustration and unnecessary posts/time wasted.emotive wrote:Bro, I didn't start this.hubird wrote:man stop your nonsense debates...

Re: Marked improvement in Dynamic Range
He stated exactly what I quoted in the past "if you use kontakt then 64bit is needed", you just admitted to using kontact. But it's not really about the past, the only thing going on now is your dragging on a conflict, nothing else. Garyb told you what he said/meant in his most recent post, and that he has no problem with you using 64bit O/S, but ofcourse that wasn't good enough for you. It wasn't good enough because you're trolling! Keeping conflicts going is trolling cause decent people don't operate like that.emotive wrote:Check the post Sound Designer, garyb made a bet and frankly he lost.
Re: Marked improvement in Dynamic Range

i don't mind.
Re: Marked improvement in Dynamic Range
@SoundDesigner,
In the "VxD" thread.
Using "Kontackt" should not be a crime, and yes I "admitted" to using it but the point of this thread was to note "increased dynamic range as a result of using scope" so why would it not be for me?

ok, sure. you misunderstood and got all prickly. not a problem.

Your point was clear gary, I am not a luddite but I'm not sure about the rest of the community.garyb wrote:ok, sure. you misunderstood and got all prickly. not a problem.

Re: Marked improvement in Dynamic Range
Are you that dim to truly not see what was meant in his statement? He said in that VXD thread "i'll bet 64bit is not needed for you", that's saying the vast majority of people don't need it, wich is true. Generally that's a safe bet. DID YOU BOTHER TO READ THE REST OF THAT VERY SAME POST to see the kontakt comment and many post afterwards where it is crystal clear what he meant and where he stands? The rest was of no interest to you cause you prefer to twist things and take out of context.emotive wrote:@SoundDesigner,

Re: Marked improvement in Dynamic Range
I know where garyb and most people here stand, on the side of the status quo, i.e. no change if it means cost increases.
I am asking for innovation and never too quickly.
I want to be able to move out from the native world into the Scope Environment and use sounds there, so the sequencer is used for what it is best for, MIDI and audio.
Taken a step further, you could also have MIDI in Scope and audio as well (including rendering to inferior formats), which would free up the Sequencer for automation and my hope is this will be available in version 6, since things like Reason don't really cut it in my view.
