Greetings,
Does anyone have any experience in converting 48khz/24bit ADAT to ethernet between an a16 ultra and an xite-1 ( 20 meters away from each other) ?
I have seen a couple of so called ADAT - Ethernet convertors but I am not sure if scope would like this.
I would appreciate any positive guidance any of you fellow scopers may have on this.
I have heard that Copperlan may be a solution? but am unwise in the ways of this magic.
Mark
Is it possible to sendi Scope ADAT over Cat5 (ethernet) ?

Hey Gary, Yes...I saw these which prompted my question........http://www.appsys.ch/en/products/adx-16.
If, ' in theory' it works, i think i'll go for it.
Cheers

yes, it should work. ADAT is ADAT. there's nothing special about the Scope application of ADAT lightpipe.
i've also seen these which use a AES/EBU cable instead of a cat5 cable:
http://www.dmexx.com/rangex.html
there are also optical repeaters that can extend the length using optical cables, although most of those are only for sp/dif, not ADAT.
a long cable may actually work fine, even though it's beyond spec. i've had no problem with 50 and even 100 foot long optical cables in the past, although i think the extender is a better idea. if you do go for a long cable just remember that premium cables often have big connectors which may not fit side by side on the PCI card.
