10 CHANNEL MIDI BOX ?

Post by quantum »

Anyone know a MIDI box with 10 channels of midi outs? I have a 8x8 MOTU already but would really like to keep it to one unit.

Yea, it's a vintage unit and can't find it anywhere for sale, so I guess I'll have to use 2 units after all.

Actually here's another one from Digidesign that I might get:

I understand.
Don't you have a patchbay laying around? You could make a simple one by yourself, only for two or four channels.
Mostly there are two less used connections.
Keep it simple, I do agree.
I have an old Roland A880, looks like a copy of the Akai, like the merger and 8 ch. config., but I would like to exchange it for the Akai with it's display.
140 dollar they say.
I'll check ebay.

edit: good find: Digidesign with ten, but has it merge and I'd go for the dispaly of Akai...

I don't need merge. I just have 10 synths and an 8 ch. out MOTU, so the digidesign will work fine.

great.
The A-880 shows the connections with leds, with blinking modes as communication help, probably like Digidesign.
At least there's no merger info on that one, given you don't need it.

Yea, the A880 is obsolete just like Akai unit. and it doesn't even have 10 outs I need, so I just bought a used Digidesign Midi I/O for $185. There's another one on ebay for $199.

I have started looking for a replacement for my Unitor8 and AMT8.
Anyone bought one of these yet? The price is attractive but the config is.....well cumbersome. Perhaps maybe a DIY rackmount conversion kit? . The AL-88 would be an obvious first choice but priced too high.

This one looks nice and priced well, but i'd much rather the ethernet/copperlan than USB though.

Supposedly iConnectivity is finally releasing their iConnectMIDI4+ this month. With Ethernet.

That sounds very promising, hopefully they won't raise the price either. Thanks for the info

This is the one I ordered in December. The current delivery date is mid or end April according to my german retailer. (When I placed my order it read January, 1st... Well worth the wait, though).
Ehternet MIDI uses Bonjur on Mac and rptMIDI on PC and you can connect another USB MIDI interface to the iConnectMIDI4+ if you need more than four MIDI DIN ports.
And it's rack mountable, too (it comes with screw holes at the bottom side).

So, no CopperLan support, yet, but I already requested that. Maybe some of you guys should send them an email, too! :)
