DNA Patchbay

Post by Tau »

So I got this wonderful, colourful device, but I'm not sure I'm getting the hang of it :)

From what I understand, one selects any source on the top, any destination on the bottom, and the patchbay will automatically connect these (vertically, each source is routed to the destination below it).

I have noticed that you can choose more than one destination on the bottom, effectively connecting each source to mutiple destinations. It's quite useful.

But is this all there is to it, or can you connect a source to a destination that's not directly under it? Like on a real patchbay, where you have connectors in the back, and connectors in the front...

And how do you deselect a destination? Once it's selected (small dot on the destinations list), I can't seem to disconnect it, except by turning it off, and selecting a new destination...

Apparently, this device replaces the LiveBar for quick connections, which is neat. I thought that one could store the connections as a preset, but apparently, it only stores the color scheme.

Would be something else if one could recall connections through a preset, instead of having to save them at project level. Such a device, combined with the Project Preset List, and a well-thought out default project could go a long way...

Would something like that be possible to achieve in Scope?

+1 for storing connections in presets :)

Maybe we can do this with Modular IV?

The modular is a perfect tool to organize signalways. I have built switches to route e. g. incoming signals to a submixer. There are 1000 ways and ideas in my head.

you can add vu meters and levelers etc.

I cant understand the discussion about UAD.

I have not really understood the dna patchbay, a day must come when the moon gets 360 degree round till i understand it. . . .

And with the BCModular shells that Simon created, there's 32 ins & outs for routing. Dang, you could build your own 32 channel mixer!

wow, good to know, where can i get that? im looking. . . .

400 moduled for free? Man, why the hell should anyone spend money for 300 adern modules? Are they more powerful? More sophisticated?

crazy world!

I found:
BC322416c
Connections
32x Audio Input
32x Audio Output
2x BC Pipe
8x Async
16x Sync
1x MIDI Input
1x MIDI Output
1x Data

this is soooo sick! :D :D :D

UAD? Am I stupid! What a question! Better burn your money. Live can be so rich. . .

No the Flexor modules do bring some great tricks to modular...granular audio sequencing, and most modules are sample accurate audio ramp based, not MIDI based. Different filters and a number of good sequencers. Worthwhile if you are looking for the extra tricks for the toolbox.

If something a developer took time to make for us, doesn't do what you hoped it would.
You can do it in Modular.

To the Scope Warriors, SDK is our weapon.
Modular...........A Way of life.
