Plant Z 15th Anyversary!

Post by Nestor »

This forum started the 15th of January of 1999

Guys, we have reached already 15 years of existence here on the Z! This is a VERY long time for a forum of any kind…, which is amazing. We really can be called a “Community” in our own right :D

First things first: Thank again to John Cooper for having us here and bringing this platform to be well known in the whole of the world through this forum, the most popular of them all if you think about “time”. Our gratitude to you, brother-in-sound-John, for all the clicks you’ve made, and the many good vibes you have introduced here along all these years of friendship and passion in the name of music! Your children must be pretty big now by the way, we saw a few photographs of them when they were little toddlers, amazing how time moves… they must have grown up :)

I have to say that after so many years I still prefer the SCOPE concept beyond anything else in the market; it matches my way of working to perfection. It is reliable, stable, capable, fun, and it sounds like heaven. Producers and musicians around are always amazed at the sound quality I can achieve. They tend to assume my productions come from some sophisticated studio gear or a big mastering studio. If they come to ask me about the final quality, the answer is always the same: “No, it is a SCOPE platform that I use”, and answer that is always followed by a big smile that only you and I can understand completely!

Most young people are fascinated by interfaces, colors and complex, expensive gear, but the final sound is what is most important, and I don’t see or hear these modern platforms to sound “better” than ours. It is cool to have some new toys, sure, but the sound quality is not necessarily better. Yes, today you can produce music with a Hollywood touch, feeling like inside of a futuristic UFO, but again, it is not about “quality”. Anyway, don’t touch my SCOPE or I may bite your hand! :P

Long live to SCOPE platform!

Cheers

I love it!

I love it!

I got Z in my head when I'm on the train
I got Z in my head when it starts to rain
I got Z in my head when I turn up the gain
I got Z in my head always on my brain
I can can cope without meds when I got Scope in my head
I can get out of bed when I got Scope in my shed
I don't pay megabucks for a million dollar sound
I'm never in the red coz I got Scope in my shed
At the end if the day you know it has to be said
And it's 'Happy Anniversary to the old PlanetZ'

This scan is from the Dutch Interface Magazine (1999)

So...

The plane = Protools
The motorbike = Cubase
The rescue belt = Echo soundcards (Gina, Layla, Darla)
The wine bottle = Guillemot (Brüll = cry in German)
The sunken boat = ?

Happy Anniversary Planet Z!

No doubt Scope is the most intuitive way of working with digital music, well except for midi automation and fx sends/returns

DXL? Man... I had forgotten this chap already... Yeah, part of our history too :P

I always remember "Subhuman", he disappeared forever too. Then "Spirit", never came back. Then "Paul Martin", I miss him...

Thank you John! :)
I didn’t do this picture myself, it was made by one of our members a few years back, I like it too, so I used it again.

I hope you are doing well, now and then it would be cool to know what you are up to in these days, if you can tell us about, of course. Best wishes for whatever you might be undertaking!

Around here, I am paying much more attention to my new guitars than the bass… :o As this world tends to go farther and deeper into more and more technology, it seems that I tend naturally to learn more and more how to better play guitar, which is very fulfilling for me.
