Z Matrix Surround Panner Plug-in users - Scope v5 -16.2
Z Matrix Surround Panner Plug-in users - Scope v5 -16.2
I have been using the Z Matrix Plug-in since 2000. It worked fine on Pulsar and Scope v4.5. It will not save the wiring connections in any project assembled on Scope v5.1
Soniccore acknowledge the "bug" is in Scope v5.1 but have been unwilling to do anything about it. I haven't been able to work my 16.2 system for the past few years. (see Z Matrix 2004 post)
I appreciate the Z Matrix plugin is rarely used here in the southern hemisphere but it is incredible that a plug-in that was coded in 1998 is (or was until this year) STILL sold on the Soniccore site.
Does anyone use Z Matrix on a Scope platform higher than v4.5? I would really like to hear from you asap.
Thanks

Re: Z Matrix Surround Panner Plug-in users - Scope v5 -16.2
the problem is that it's a Z-Plane product, not a Sonic|Core product. Z-Plane needs to fix it, but they are uninterested. Sonic|Core would fix it anyway, but Z-Plane has not provided the original files.
Re: Z Matrix Surround Panner Plug-in users - Scope v5 -16.2
Hi Gary
Thanks for your response. I've re-contacted Z Plane and they indicate Soniccore HAS the necessary files.
I've indicated to Martin at Z Plane that you have a different story. He has also asked for my purchase details.
I paid nearly $1000 Aus in 1999/2000 for the floppy disk program. The main distributor of Creamw@are in Australia was Major Music and they closed some years ago.
Nice to hear from you again in a more public forum - again, I understand Soniccore is doing it's best to suport dated Creamw@re products. Please do your best and forgive my persistence on this matter.

Re: Z Matrix Surround Panner Plug-in users - Scope v5 -16.2
well, if Z-plane has produced the files, then it will happen eventually, if it can be fixed. it's not like one of the team of 100 programmers can be taken off a project and spend a week or even a few days on this. there is no team of 100 or even 10. it's just reality. it's not bad for you to continue to push for it anyway. i'll remind Holger.
the price you paid for something from a company that is out of business really doesn't enter into it. i doubt this makes S|C even one dollar. still, my impression from speaking to Holger was that he would be happy to accomodate you, if it's possible. there are still a few avenues of possibility available. i'll write a couple more emails. one last resort would be to pay a third party developer or someone handy with the SDK here to make a new plugin for you.

Re: Z Matrix Surround Panner Plug-in users - Scope v5 -16.2
Hi Gary
Any news from Holger? as you have suggested I am hapy to pay for anyone conversant with the software to get me out of this jam and enable the plug-in to work on Scope 5.1 as well as Xite and all future upgrades
Can you recommend anyone or suggest a developer I might be able to approach?
Thanks again for your interest - looks like minimal response from "off topic" as well.

no, i haven't heard anything, i'm sorry.
if you would like to offer to pay a developer, tgstgs, sonolive, RA, wolf and several others are here on pz.
you might post on the wishlist or the development forums. anyone reading this who is interested should speak up....

Hi Gary
Posted an appeal on "wishlist" for a ZMatrix developer/expert - yet to hear a response.
Have a major headache at present with A16 Untra not responding. Signal show up in Cubase6 Mixers / Scope 24/48 ST Mixer / as well as the level indicators in the Z Matrix Module - but NOTHING from the A16 outputs.
Admit have been "cleaning files" before the system stopped and have been assuming its the driver.
I'm still using v4.5 and have pugged in my old Tdat Analog A16 to see if its the Ultra playing up but same result.

Re: Z Matrix Surround Panner Plug-in users - Scope v5 -16.2
the A16 has nothing to do with the computer. it's i/o is available in the ADAT source(the A16's inputs) and destination(the A16's outputs). the signal must get routed to the ASIO modules for Cubase to use it. there's no driver or anything like that...
Re: Z Matrix Surround Panner Plug-in users - Scope v5 -16.2
Hi Gary
Ive changed the ADAT destination modules many times as I can follow the signal path visually from Cubase ASIO into Scope Mixer then TWO Z matrix modules. Ive changed the light pipes and checked each (8 channel) light pipe is "lit" from Scope I/O plate to the Ultra inputs. Can't understand why the Ultra has stopped. All the speakers are working (16 MS40's) but make a different "shut down" sound when plugged into the older Tdat A16.
Any suggestions or do I take it to a technician?
Thanks for your quick response and sorry to bother. I see "AudioDan" had problems with XTC facility and has already outlined our problems sending the Ultra to Germany for repair - if required.
Appears to be nothing wrong with power supply (unchanged for 4 years) and front panel lights of Ultra indicate when stepped through Sync and Sample rate options.
I can't use Win 7 because Scope v4.5 wont work on 7. You are well aware why I am confined to v4.5 - the ZMatrix bug in Scope 5 . Is there any likelihood Scope 6 can handle the ZMatrix as you previously suggested?
Can you be more specific about possible developers using SDK who might be approached for a solution to my predicament?
Best Regards

Hi Gary
In Scope v4.5 do I use the Creamware driver or the Sonic Core driver ? I think I was using the Creamware driver loaded from the SonicCore v4.5 CD before the Ultra stopped. Is there another driver? and will it make any difference to the ADAT modules?

Re: Z Matrix Surround Panner Plug-in users - Scope v5 -16.2
the driver has nothing to do with the ADAT module. that's controlled by the card irself.
yes, the Creamware driver...

Re: Z Matrix Surround Panner Plug-in users - Scope v5 -16.2
as to fixing the A16, i think sending it to Germany is probably the only choice. i take it you have an older original A16 that works and the Ultra just died? yes, Ferrofish is probably the only place that can help. is it worth the cost? probably. the cost of a similar replacement is probably higher. i understand it's not a pleasant option.
i didn't realize who you, are i just answered. i'm surprisingly slow on the uptake sometimes. just to be clear, the problem isn't v5. it's Z-Matrix. it needs to be redone. there are only a handful of plugins that don't work in v5.x. it just happens that your favorite is one of the very few. it's not v6 that would fix it. it's just that until v6 is complete and released, there's nobody that can look at it, not at S|C at this time.
anyway, your problems wouldn't be solved with win7 or win8. the computer has nothing to do with the A16.

Re: Z Matrix Surround Panner Plug-in users - Scope v5 -16.2
Hi Gary
The older Tdat A16 is NOT working (but it was when I last stored it away) -I plugged it in to see if the problem was the A16Ultra - They BOTH seem to be inactive which led me to think the ADAT A and B outputs from the soundcard may be the problem. I've changed both light pipes and cleaned the housings on both the I/O plate and the A16Ultra. The infra-red lights are visible at the end of both pipes.
I considered Win 7 only because support finishes in a few months from MS / I was considering a reformat and reinstall of everything . I have another computer with 2 x pulsar cards running Pulsarv3.01 - I even hooked the light pipes into that system -to see what would hapen to the Ultra - nothing!
I've also routed outputs from the Z Matrix modules into Analog Dest module and can hear all channels/tracks but only in stereo. So I guess the problem is the AD/DA converter.
The A16 Ultra could be muted because of poor digital output from the ADAT - my colour blindness doesn't help! - my wife now tells me what I see as GREEN is in fact RED !
About 7-8 years ago I had the Tdat A16 repaired by Phase Engineering in Sydney - they have gone now. I will spend the next few days seeking out a techie here in Sydney. Thanks again for your patience and tolerance.
I will let you know how I get on in a few days - if this is frustrating for you - imagine how I feel as I set my holidays 4 weeks to get a demo together and continue my composition- now I have major impediment.
Best Regards
