To solve a problem someone must experience it in some way. Apart from a LITTLE asio now and then I am not seeing those problems that are posted on this forum regularly. I need to get some of them too but the MUSIC keeps me very busy.
The Facts
The only way I believe that someone can get a genuine answer or help in solving Music problems with SFP and CW cards is to have that alone installed in the system. Other hardware and applications can and will retard and impede system performance. How could you know definitely what is causing those HEADACHEAS when a whole bunch of things are in a MUSIC PC? Most software are unpredictable. Work good one day then

Ahum...ehh...so what was the purpose of this post again?
I'd think this to be pretty common knowledge nowadays.
Don't make a mess of your 'puter! Don't install soundblaster and network cards! Have no more than 4 or 5 tasks starting up with your system and clean up your registry!
I think those are the most basic requirements for a good working computer.

That's why I dual boot my box. Win98SE for SFP 3.1a+tripleDAT3.xx+Logic5P = no more, no less. WinXP for everything else = USB network (for txfering my music work files to a backup box), even SFP 3.1a+Logic5P (just for kicks and add some basic audio to XP). I'll probably add another (tweaked XP) on another partition for a more serious audio application. The only other PCI peripheral I've got besides the Pulsar II+ is an Adaptec SCSI controller.
After axing out my old D-Link NIC card, I haven't seen those dreaded MSVCRT & BASE DLL file errors - could it be that IT was the culprit? Win98SE is running very stable now (again, pre-NIC), though XP ran superbly, even when the NIC was installed - haven't had to re-install XP - yet.

(Not to start argueing, just for the record)this is advice that bears repeating.(making it a music ONLY computer and not filling it w/unneeded progs)
I read this often here and everywhere, but for me on my mac it's no problem at all to have internet active even wenn actually running music softs, besides actually downloading of course.
Also I have Photoshop and lots of other software on my machine.
The little problems I meet are never (as far as I know) related to multifunktional use of my comp, and I'm just a simple computer user without any understandings of specific computer knowledge.
I had to learn what a mobo is here on planetz!
The only thing I must admit is that I don't have any game on my computer, coz I'm not interested in them.
So the pc IS cheaper, but I don't have to buy two computers
