Open Scope Vaporware?
Re: Open Scope Vaporware?
Can you please give me an example of some of the devices that are not there?
And also please let me know, the absense of the 64 bit wave player is a reason that is stopping you from creating music?
Also please can you point me to another similar system that has a plenty of the devices you insinuate?
And a last thing are you between the people that just wants to help and make Xite shine?

Re: Open Scope Vaporware?
I'm not accusing sonic core, i'm just pointing out what potential customers got from the scope 6 announcement and what many potential customers think about the actual scope 5.1 on the xite.
I have not invented the story about scope 6 as open source, just search here or in other forums and you will see that it is how scope 6 is promoted.
Look for example here:

just my opinion

I'm not interested in having an open source sdk, i'm good with v5.1 and v4, better not to announce things too early and better to improve what is available.v6 is made of elements like JUCE that are cross platform, so once v6 is complete, it will only take a few tweeks and a driver to make an OSX version. this means that the possibility of an OSX version goes from being a fond wish to a probability. currently, it takes more than 2 1/2 YEARS to make a new Scope version. v6 will also be open source, so anyone with basic coding skills could do the job in a few months.
just my opinion
Re: Open Scope Vaporware?
i dont use 64bit as the sample engines dont work
i like the 32bit and still use it as the only reason for 64bit is big massive sample streaming for kontakt
but there are many who like 64bit and want to use the bc modular sts sample mdl but cant as they get errors
we are currently working on many additional mdl for modular
and i have the sdk6 and am currently using matlab and dsp vstudio and the latest ez sharvc evaluation board for creating my own atoms
as for me theirs the user wavetable mdl
wavescanning mdl
sample wave loop modulation mdl
top octave osc mdl a old style bdd chorus as used by the these old string machines
i have created one using the sdk mdls but its not quite right and need some extra mdl to make it right so im going to code the dsp for it
i dont have an exite only pci which i have 3 systems

Re: Open Scope Vaporware?
nothing stops me from making music
or creating sample sets for hardware and software 64bit is not a problem for me
and im happy with my pci systems as of at the moment
but im also a hardware person and make diy modular and synths and outboard gear
my main aim is to create a .dll with a vst controller that can be used by and daw
and a hardware synth using the scope 6 and the latest version 4 sharc dsp
and why i brought the ez version 4 sharc eval board
for experiments and the reason im using matlab

Re: Open Scope Vaporware?
Damn talk about staying civil
Jhulk I think your efforts are commendable, I hope to one day enjoy your ultimate SCOPE modular rompler with every wavetable, pcm sample, single cycle wave you've been collecting for an ultimate 90s new age mindtrip
Just out of curiosity, what is the investment and learning curve required to design one's own atoms? I've plyaing a lot with Pd and following Andy Farnell's book "Designing Sound" and hope to one day contribute with some kind of physical modelling/resynthesis in Scope..
I do statistics code for a living and hope that it isn't a whole other world once sdk6 comes out

i think everyone(well, almost everyone) has good intentions in this thread.
jhulk, i appreciate your efforts.
fra77x, i appreciate the sword and shield.

Re: Open Scope Vaporware?
the latest version 4 sharc eval ez kit cost me £450 + vat it comes with a lite version of dsp vstudio 5 full version is $6000
im on a matlab online program do in my own time course im on the dsp signal processing course 90 days using matlab and vstudio intergration
this lets you try out you matlab models on the sharc chips
all the material for using matlab with the sharc chips is on the mathworks site
one of the projects i have been working on for a while is a hardware controller for a modular design using 16bits adc and 16bit cv dac
and is one of the reasons i went with matlab as you can create visual control systems
i have been doing lots of my old sample library from my EII/EIII/dss1/ensoniq eps/16+/asr10/roland s50/s330/550/s7xx series/kurzweil k250/fz10
and been doing a modular version with the help of sharc bc modular in the glorious lofi sample rates of the original content im lucky in that i still create new pcm foe the EII and emax 1/2 and many older pcm synths and samplers

Re: Open Scope Vaporware?
Well,
sorry i didn't wanted to offend anyone, but that thread was pretty annoying.
What you do is very interesting and well appreciated.
Imagine to have a forum for your products, that you work with all that passion and good feelings and some people to constantly point to some minor faults of your work. For an example to have provided "EII/EIII/dss1/ensoniq eps/16+/asr10/roland s50/s330/550/s7xx series/kurzweil k250/fz10" and someone all the time argues "where is YYY55", you don't have YYY55! What a pity of not having YYY55! How well it would be if we had YYY55. jhulk products are faulty they don't include YYY55! I can't work without yyy55. All my friends need yyy55 and would buy your product only if you 've made yyy55.... Give me the tools and i will create the YYY55 myself! What are you doing, still no YYY55? You are fooling us. I bought your product only for that yyy55 and that is not included!
That's how that thread looks. Even if you have advertised your product that it would include the famous "YYY55" and for some reason you couldn't provide it at the first time there is no reason for people to argue with that constancy especially when your product is one among the most rich that exist. If you don't own a Xite-1 i should inform you that it has the most powerful dsp engine. So in my eyes it's completely insane for a xite owner to argue about things that the xite doesn't have.
p.s. By the way have you programmed any filters in the sdk or in general? I mean resonant filters.

@jhulk
you can not use the ez sharc code 1:1 on scope;
you will get trouble;
but its good practice to learn how the sharcs work;
good vibes

Re: Open Scope Vaporware?
i have coded filters in synth edit sdk
and made discrete filters using vca im a synth tech by trade and repair and make hardware and upgrade synths with new tech with another friend
what i cant do with scope i do with specific hardware i love transwave synthesis and love audio rate wavetables
and wanted to have a mdl like it in scope
i also understand what your saying about a product saying it can do this but it does not do that
im happy with scope i love the modular most and i dont have a problem with it on winxp 32bit
so i dont know about sample osc problems only from jimmy vee when sending him some example patches which he could not play with the 64bit os and xite
i only have sdk6 beta and never had any other but i want to try the sdk5 as from talking to others its easier to use
thanks for the ups on the sharcs dsp programming and that code blocks working on the sharc chips wont work with scope

Keep in mind I am a moron too.jhulk wrote: so i dont know about sample osc problems only from jimmy vee when sending him some example patches which he could not play with the 64bit os and xite
So don't consider my situation w/ the patches you sent a final word, but I have heard about problems in x64 in the XITE-1 using some sampled stuff.
But alas, for anyone else with a Solaris jhulks waveforms are outstanding. Transwaves and vocal stuff are just awesome, and I use the S|C Sample Osc. on many patches.
To get this working in x64 w/ Modular would be a huge advantage. It's definately made Solaris a gem and JB really likes this preset made using your stuff, so thanks again.
Here's a small example of Waldorfs with AP3 and Tube Filters, modulations supreme, and jhulks samples processed @ 96k......ankyuvarymush.
