Got the Sonic Core Book

Post by dante »

Since this original thread kinda went O/T, thought I'd start this afresh.

Today I received the Sonic Core book.

Previous speculation was fairly accurate about it's web derived nature, and in fact only a small percentage of its content relates directly to Sonic Core or Creamware.

Descriptions about the evolution of Windows, PCI, PCIe and the ExpressCard busses and interfaces fill out the content, along with German history and culture etc.

Did you know that John Bowen's middle name was Scott ? Other notorietys get a mention such as Hitler, Einstein and Angela Merkel, but yet to see any mention of Holger. From this perspective, the title 'Sonic Core' is a misnomer.

Is it worth having? Not really, unless (like me) you're an absolute Scope nut and treat it as a collectors item. Or if you want technical info about the busses, or some interest in German history, politics and culture to wile away 30 minutes on the train to work in the morning.

But you wont find any insider dramas similar to the ARP story here.

Not sure what that is. But there's a mention of Bavarian Cuisine and a pic of a black forest cake there

Merkel is mentioned under Foreign relations about hosting a G8 summit in Heiligendamm !

Anyway I might be able to use some of this stuff for a future ScopeRise, maybe a bit of a joke.

Well, I didn't know Creamware started as far back as 1992, also didn't know that Tripledat / Cutmaster etc were not just used widely in German radio stations but also by Chinese govt ones as well.

It's a curiosity item that's for sure :)

In that case, I still wait for Gary to write a good book about SCOPE, and even more (and I'm not kidding): Gary, you could do a DVD tutorial about all related technical information to run a perfect system, and then add a superb tutorial about how using the platform, which has always been missing for new commers. That would give you some extra cash for your life and it could be extremely interesting to build and record. Let's talk about 12 hours of video devided in chapters, and you're done with everything.

I grew up eating Schwarzewalder Kirsch Tort, it should get mention and German Sausage and Mustard is how I wish to die from overeating.
Many Black freinds of mine who served in Germany when coming back to the States have a joke about where they're from, probably learned it from German citizens, but still is funny when you ask the Brotha' where he's from and he says the Black Forest, which is the Schwarzewalder........

That would be awesome Gary! :D

I guess you are sending me the resposability back as a joke... But I still believe it could be done for real. You could either build it and sell it to S/C, something that could come with their products already which would be very much appreciated by new users, or you can do it and sell it yourself, which is a little more complicated in many ways.

Either way, such a complex platform would shine.

I think that few people know better than you do about getting ready and fixing Scope compatibilities issues, setting up a PC for it and virtual versus phisical connections. You have been helping people for more than 12 years already about all these sort of details and the 1000 posibilities of interconections that there exist within and without SCOPE, so that would be really awesome.

You have a real one here...
