Purple Motion and Skaven

Post by kensuguro »

If these names raised an eyebrow, you were following the PC demo scene in the 90's. I was deeply fascinated by the pc demo scene back then. It had a huge impact on my electro music making, and surprisingly, made me a competent game programmer.

Second Reality... is a title of a particular demo by the team Future Crew, which shook grounds when it was released, in 93.

I watch that demo on Youtube from time to time for inspiration. For effects, or just maybe for some good old VGA nostalgia.
I also listened to a lot of Purple Motion's music (I didn't back then) and realized how much of it I had internalized. Especially when I write in a more "retro" style. Pretty interesting. Check out some of his stuff, and you'll see some similarities.

Anyway, just wondering if there were any pc demo scene generation people on Z.

I also found a remake of the classic Second Reality tune. I think this is fromt he Musicdisk album Purple Motion did a few years ago.

I was not so much into the PC demo scene, but very much so into the Amiga demo scene. I'll see if i can post some examples later, a lot of funkiness going on those days with very limited audio hardware.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
