Autopan - Volume levels

I applied scope's inbuilt autopan the other day to give movement to an instrument and wondered if it uses pan law. It seemed much louder when moving to the sides.

If anyone knows how it's built I'd appreciate the info.

I am not sure of the design but these options are pretty useful in case you want more choices.
