Has anyone had problems with clicks and pops when playing / recording in SONAR?
Have been experimenting with various SONAR settings, trying to get the best ASIO thing happening.
Bad thing was to try bringing down the "device mgr" (pulsar) settings to 16 bit from 24. (i work mostly in 16). My resulting attempt at mixing 2 audio + 1 midi track was horrid. I then tried increasing SONAR's buffer size to 512. Nada. So, back to 24 bit at the Device Mgr level, and much better.
But still regular pops in the audio recording, like every 3 sec or so. Tried boosting play/rec buffers again, up as high as 2048 k. Then I went to the Device Mgr and chose 32 bit, and followed a few audio optimization tips for Win7.
Seems improved, but i still get those static-like clicks every few seconds. Kind of a drag.
I'm running SCOPE 64bit on a dual core Intel with 6 gig of RAM and lots of HD space.
thanks for any pointers!
Gary

Re: clicks and pops in SONAR
those adjustments don't work with ASIO. it seems you're using the wave drivers, which won't work correctly. ASIO should be fine though.
have you done these adjustments to your computer?

Re: clicks and pops in SONAR
hi Gary,
I was using ASIO.
I tried switching to ASIO2 modules, and switched OFF Sonar's input monitor switch; even less crackling, but still odd pops.
I'm checking out REAPER 64. So far, it looks promising. Mixed 3 mono tracks without a single pop, still using ASIO2.
it's quite the learning curve.
(checked your suggested BIOS tweaks, and the 2 parameters I found that were listed were already disabled.)

ASIO and Sonar should be fine. if they're not, it something in your setup that you missed.
there is no adjustment of buffers for ASIO drivers in Scope, within Sonar. only the wave drivers are affected by such settings. ASIO latency is set in Scope, not the app, since Scope is not a windows soundcard.
